Director - Business Intelligence Technology - L Brands - Columbus
Job description
Job Summary
This technical leadership position will be responsible for leading data services and business intelligence (BI) systems for L. Brands including Big Data implementation, data architecture, data stewardship, BI self-service and data transformation. Works closely with brand partners, colleagues and other stakeholders to identify and maximize opportunities to utilize data warehousing (DW) and BI systems to improve business processes, promote the strategic use of information technology and enable the work force to use appropriate technologies. The ideal candidate will have proven hands on experience leading BI architectural design, expanding data infrastructure and directing data transformation.
Responsibilities
- Provides technical leadership and direction for the creation of BI architectural solutions in support of L. Brands key initiatives and projects
- Collaborates with senior leadership and peers to translate business requirements and information objectives into DW strategic/tactical business plan and system development
- Develop strategy and coordinate across business and technical teams to ensure all projects meet strategic objectives
- Prepares, communicates and educates Mast Global Technologies (MGT) and brand partners on changes in policies and practices within the BI organization.
- Builds relationships and collaborates with other MGT partners to identify system integration opportunities and needs. Anticipates impact throughout the organization of changes to systems.
- Ensures that systems projects meet expectations for quality, timeliness and cost-effectiveness.
- Ensure cost-effective design, development, engineering, integration, implementation, testing and maintenance of the data warehouse in support of business and information objectives and requirements
- Leads and manages business intelligence technology team to provide architectural design solutions, development and processes to support business initiatives.
- Builds relationships with brand partners and other functional and technical areas.
- Establishes and manages policies and procedures for system support and maintenance, directs ongoing systems maintenance and user support to the business unit to ensure integrity and availability of BI solutions and data to support business needs.
- Communicates status of systems initiatives to MGT leadership and ensures that business requirements and service level agreements are met.
- Delivers solutions and services by overseeing cross-functional development teams.
- Stays current with technology trends, evaluates options against business requirements and makes recommendations to brand partners that improve business processes and systems.
Qualifications:
- Demonstrated experience leading Enterprise BI and/or Data Warehouse initiatives.
- Extensive background in Data, self-service and data preparation: sourcing, acquisition, integration.
- Overseeing the ongoing development and operations of a business intelligence architecture that enables fact-based decision making and ad hoc analysis and insight.
- Development background in multiple large scale projects involving Data Management, Data Warehousing, and Big Data.
- Hands-on experience with BI methodology and technologies (strong technical backend experience with Oracle, Teradata or other BI platforms)
- Demonstrated ability to work in a highly matrixed organization
- Demonstrated ability to think/act strategically and influence key leaders and partners
- 10+ years of related IT /Business Intelligence and analytics work experience including architecture design and deployment and systems lifecycle development management
- 12 years of leadership experience in managing cross functional teams and direct management of teams (functional and technical)
- Strong analytics and communications background (e.g., math, statistics, quantitative methods, and verbal and writing proficiency)
- Must have a proven track record of working with Senior and C-level executives to determine analytics data requirements and implementing systems to warehouse and retrieve key business information
- Extensive experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative and diverse environment
- 10 years of progressive experience in systems design and implementation for a function within a large global company
- Budgeting, planning and managing projects and programs of over 1+ million in scope
