Senior Director - vCloud Air - VMware - Palo Alto

Job description
The vCloud Air organization is seeking a Sr. Director to join VMware’s Palo Alto office. The ideal candidate must possess a successful history of service delivery of high-end software & hardware platforms who also has a knack for managing highly effective teams of technologists from core development, QE, UI/ UX and DevOps. As Sr. Director, this person will work very closely with other organizations within VMware to enable service provider adoption of the vCloud suite. This person will also be responsible for initial joint validation of those services as well as assisting through delivery to customers , as well as support training and knowledge transfer to these partner organizations.
Responsibilities: • Lead, build & motivate a world class team of Software Engineers, Quality Engineers, DevOps and UI/ UX engineers who are designing and implementing new functionality, as well as improving existing products and services • Work with product management, business development, partners & customers in the development of product & services requirements for Innovative, Scalable, and Cost Effective & User Friendly Cloud based platform • Implement Agile development methodology for cost effective, high quality rapid product iterations & faster time to market features, products and solutions • Participate in strategic planning and management for resources, environments and releases • Drive scheduling and on-time delivery of features throughout the software development lifecycle • Work across engineering, operations, and internal and external business partner teams to deliver highly scalable and reliable customer experience services • Architect and deliver a strong development process that ensures high quality and business agility • Provide timely and appropriate communication to business owners, stakeholders, and users on issue status and resolution • Participate in the definition and promotion of engineering best practices within the organization in collaboration with other development resources Requirements: • 15+ years of overall technology experience in a software development role with deep knowledge of software development methodologies with an emphasis on Agile • 5-10 years in a management role, where you lead a team of 75 + engineers • Expertise in building organizations and address organizational challenges with an yet to deliver successful & productive solutions • Proven experience with delivering enterprise class, production quality, highly available & highly scalable services • Successful in delivering SaaS/PaaS/IaaS implementations • High degree of competency with project management including- change management, dependency, communication and risk mitigation • Ability to travel
