Job description
The new Executive Director for Freshmen Admissions will oversee the coordination of all freshmen enrollment activities across the institution. Reporting to the Vice President and Dean of Admissions, the Executive Director will collaborate with key institutional stakeholders to develop and implement a comprehensive long-term freshmen enrollment strategy that that aligns with the goals, priorities, mission and aspirations of Drexel University under the Student Lifecycle Management initiative which focuses on student success from the point of inquiry through graduation and beyond. The Executive Director will oversee a team of 24 staff members and will be responsible for enrolling a freshmen class of 3100 students.
Qualifications:
The successful candidate must have a minimum of a master's degree, along with at least ten years of progressive management experience in admissions, some of which must have been attained in private college admissions.
This individual should be results driven, forward-thinking, and possess a clear strategic vision for how Drexel University will address and position the College in preparation for the emerging national demographic and socio-economic trends. The Executive Director of Freshmen Admissions must be an articulate and effective presenter and able to build successful inter-organizational relationships through effective institutional collaboration, must possess strong qualitative and quantitative analytical skills, and have demonstrated leadership ability.

Primary Responsibilities:
Drexel University's Student Lifecycle Management initiative informs the admissions process from beginning to end. The Executive Director of Freshman Admissions is responsible for creatively implementing this philosophy as s/he oversees every aspect of engaging, cultivating, selecting, enrolling, and yielding prospective first-year students who are a "right fit" for Drexel and are in the best position to benefit from a Drexel education, contribute to the community, and persist and succeed.
Responsibilities include:
- Supervises a senior staff of leaders to whom teams of admissions counselors report
- Manages the admissions funnel from prospect through enroll with regard to a variety of metrics including overall goals, school/college/department goals, capacity, quality, yield, etc.
- Develops and implements a student-centered, full-funnel admissions counseling approach
- Develops and implements - in concert with Drexel's Colleges and Schools - a holistic application review process.
- Creates - using relevant data as a foundation - a stategic lead generation/recruitment plan that may include name purchases, Search, travel, social media, on- and off-campus events and visits, electronic and print publications, etc.
- Creates a communications plan - in collaboration with Marketing & Communications - segmented by high school year and by other important data points such as level of engagement, major, etc., that constitutes a critical element of the lead generation plan
- Creates and implements a plan for engaging key influencers such as guidance counselors and parents
- Participates in the creation of offer and financial aid strategy with senior leadership
- Creates and implements a multi-channel yield/anti-melt plan
- Oversees all business processes and operations of the division including budget, personnel, technology, etc.
- Ensures all compliance and data integrity
- Identifies and organizes special projects related to freshman admissions
- Represents EMSS on appropriate University committees
