Director - Social Media - Viacom - New York


Job description
The Velocity Integrated Marketing (IM) Music and Entertainment team is looking for a long term freelance Director of Social Media reporting to the VP of IM Social to support the linear and digital IM team. This position will cover the ideation, innovation, and implementation of client specific programs that involve social media. The ideal candidate will have proven success in developing and measuring social media promotions based on specific client objectives, as well as assisting in the valuation behind them.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work closely with editorial, sales, analytics and other key cross functional business teams and leaders to create social media vision, strategy and planning across music and entertainment properties, shows and tentpoles
Develop social media initiatives that super-serve key Viacom clients with the goal of retaining and/or growing clients' budgets both vertically and horizontally
Participate as a social media thought leader, surrounding discussions in client/agency meetings from initial brief to final presentation
Lead and/or participate in creative brainstorms to generate ideas within social and beyond for both client briefs and prospective pitchesBecome a champion of social media analytics within the integrated marketing group to measure and present the effectiveness and virality of campaigns.
Working with the research team, become an expert in trends and knowledge related to key audience groups that will aid in the development of marketing initiatives

Work with digital ad sales strategy and ad sales management to inform short and long term social and earned media monetization goals
Collaborate with existing channel social media teams across music and entertainment, to support their respective brands and ensure consistency in voice/tone
Ensure strong collaboration between clients, agencies, and the IM execution teams to inform activations within VMN digital and social properties, as well as the clients’ social footprints

Desired Skills and Experience
Must have social media/digital marketing experience
Must have solid experience in the creation and presentation of marketing strategy, data and creative decks tailored to their audience that have the ability to tell a story convincingly
Must be agile and flexible, and stay ahead of trends, platform changes and new digital/social platforms as they happen
A Senior Planner/Planning Director background at creative or media agency would be ideal
