Director - Site Merchandising - HBC Digital - New York


Job description
The Director of Site Merchandising is responsible for driving all online merchandising strategies leveraging web site analytics to improve the overall customer experience and conversion while overseeing the content set up and production processes. The Director of Site Merchandising will lead a team of Site Merchandisers in delivering and executing actionable insights, analyses and recommendations that inform day to day business and long term strategy for Saks Fifth Avenue online and mobile sites. The Director of Site Merchandising will oversee a team focused on ensuring timely production of content with accountability for complete and accurate assortments. This position will oversee, drive and improve processes related to Site Merchandising. The Director of Site Merchandising is responsible for achieving topside sales plans, conversion goals, usability performance targets and corporate objectives.

The Director will also:
Oversee and drive editorial and site content/merchandising initiatives backed by web site analytics data and ensure timely execution and live date of content to meet both business goals and support merchandise assortment strategies. Oversee team quality metrics and define ways to improve. Enhance and improve merchandise assortments, and overall editorial and site customer interaction through the review of metric performance on a timely basis alongside actual selling performance from assortments.

Drive the development and implementation of new processes to further improve Site Merchandising internal efficiencies related to the product assortment and content lifecycle. Partner with the Site Ops team to identify and reduce process or system inefficiencies. Drive merchandising and editorial enhancements related to the customer experience and provide website analytics data to support changes based on customer behavior. Develop business cases for merchandising related projects and staffing requirements and oversee the implementation.
Oversee the testing of all site content in coordination with weekly site refreshes, functionality and marketing initiatives, ensuring completion of information from all cross functional teams.
Manage, mentor and develop team for future growth within the department and organization. Continue to review organizational structure to ensure accurate headcount to facilitate the continuing growth of the business
Thoroughly understand competitive landscape primarily focused on navigation and customer experience and make recommendations to incorporate into business
Execution of omni-channel promotions: Ensure consistency with quarterly strategies across sale events, clearance and product promotions.
•Improve customer experience ratings, conversion metrics, reduced return rate
•Feedback from cross functional teams that Merchandising Operations has partnered to execute merchandising strategies, new site functionalities, systems and enhancements to drive the business supported by analytics
•Feedback from Merchandising Operations team that strategic initiatives are understood, well managed and effectively communicated educe item setup turnaround time, reduce defect rate and improve team quality metrics
•Improve retention and decrease turnover rate

Desired Skills and Experience
•Bachelor’s degree
•Understanding of retail ecommerce landscape, including “best practice” features and functionality
•Strong communication, interpersonal, analytical and problem-solving skills
•Excellent writing, speaking, and presentation skills
•Minimum of 6-8 years experience in e-Commerce
•Minimum of 4-6 years in retail site merchandising
•Minimum of 4-6 years demonstrated experience managing a team
•Proficiency of eCommerce platforms (websphere commerce), site analytics tools (e.g., Omniture or Coremetrics) and familiarity with content management tools
•Technical aptitude with web-based tools and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
•Action and detail oriented, organized with ability to manage teams to execute within deadlines
•Demonstrate strong resource workload and capacity management skills and proven ability to manage multiple resources, priorities and a large volume of business
•Strong interpersonal skills and ability to manage and build relationships with cross functional resources
•Demonstrate ability to analyze and react to quality and performance metrics to drive quality and efficiencies within team
•Ability to select and develop a team of future leaders
•Exhibit ability to perform well, problem solve and brainstorm in a collaborative environment and inspire a strong sense of camaraderie, accountability, and high performance across teams
•Demonstrate sound business judgment, proven ability to influence others and strong decision making skills
•Ability to work effectively with and present to individuals at all levels
