Director - Product Data Replication - PayPal - San Jose
Job description
We are looking to add an experienced, forward-thinking, and tech-savvy infrastructure roadmap leader to our team. You have the responsibility for driving the feature strategy and development roadmap for PayPal's enterprise data movement and replication capabilities used for analytics and analytics development across the company. This is a high-level position with significant responsibilities and autonomy to turn a large goal into viable enterprise capabilities to achieve that goal.

You must be able to think creatively with the development team about the major current and future challenges in this domain to design a near-term and long-term capabilities strategy
A solid work ethic, demonstrated integrity, the ability to earn the respect of an engineering team
A passion for evolving great enterprise platforms, and great listening skills to understand the needs of the enterprise are a must
Requirements
A degree in computer science or an equivalent technical foundation acquired through years of professional experience
12+ years professional experience working as part of a consumer or enterprise development lifecycle taking ideas to launch
A firm understanding of modern, large-scale analytics and data development, particularly related to technologies that acquire and transport data (e.g. Flume, Kafka, Sqoop, ETL frameworks)
Extensive experience working in or near large-scale data processing, both relational and non-relational
Experience working directly with end users and development teams to interpret their needs and to translate those needs with a development team into effective features
Extensive roadmap leadership for initiatives to create deployable infrastructure capabilities that will be used by other teams/users for their daily work activities A clear understanding of what it means to build loosely coupled/service-oriented systems/features
Experience working in an agile environment
A passion for finding new ways to solve complex problems in the data space Must be a self-starter, able to deliver high-quality work without tactical oversight
