Job description
K-State has a unique and exciting opportunity for a talented professional to lead the Office of Institutional Equity, add value and make an impact with helping the University achieve K-State 2025. Under the direction of the Vice President for Human Capital this role is intimately involved with developing and implementing diversity and/or equal opportunity training programs that assists the K-State community with not only understanding individual differences while also developing an open and inclusive environment. This Leader serves as the HR Liaison for diversity issues.


Duties and Responsibilities:
Serves as the university’s Title IX Coordinator by managing and conducting Title IX investigations, oversee campus communication and education efforts regarding Title IX and the procedure for filing complaints alleging sexual violence and consult with students, faculty, and staff who report sexual misconduct.
Monitors and provides leadership to investigations into allegations of discrimination, harassment, and other civil rights violations in accordance with university policy; advise individuals on the complaint process, available resources, and interim measures, if appropriate; and plan the investigation processes conduct interviews, identify and collect relevant documentation, analyze evidence, draft investigation reports, issue findings and determination, maintain accurate and thorough investigative files.
Collaborates with staff to develop and conduct prevention of discrimination training, and other Title IX related presentations; collaborates with the Office of General Counsel, Office of Student Life, Office of Housing and Dining, KSU Police Department, and other departments on the university’s anti-discrimination policy and its impact to the campus community; and develops and presents materials on prevention and recognition of sexual harassment and sexual violence training for the campus community, to include students and staff, in multiple formats.
Writes, maintains, analyzes and integrates the University’s Affirmative Action Plan into livable action oriented action plans.
Consults with administration and Employee Relations when appropriate on matters related to equitable treatment of employees; and consult and collaborate with the Office of General Counsel as appropriate.
Assists in the development of policies and procedures and proposed revisions to existing policies and procedures related to EEO/AA.
This position serves as a liaison to and manages audits by the Office of Federal Contract Compliance Program (OFCCP).
Assists with the development of policies and programs to attract, retain and promote a diverse work force for the organization.
Collaborates with Talent Acquisition to ensure a diverse and inclusive candidate slate for hiring managers.
Determines the appropriateness of introducing diversity initiatives and consider the unique needs of the organization.
Develops training to educate employees and managers on how to recognize, accommodate and appreciate individual differences and how these can be bridged back to assist in propelling K-State 2025.
Develop and facilitate university wide training programs and activities related to Title IX, Title VII, and other Equal Employment Opportunities/Affirmative Action (EEO/AA) laws and regulations.
Audits diversity training materials for relevancy and updating into e-learning formats.
Develops metrics for measuring the effectiveness of diversity initiative implemented and prepares annual reports on the value of the initiatives.
Keeps current on diversity programs and developments by maintaining contact with others in the field (e.g., professional association and educational groups, and professional development efforts.)
Collaborates closely with Talent Acquisition and Employee Relations to proactively explore trends and data that impede or propel diversity with inclusion and develops recommendations to address those issues.
Develops recognition programs and other programs to reinforce people who exhibit role model leadership in the area of diversity and/or equal opportunity.
Coaches direct reports and provides leadership to team in a way that each person grows and develops their skill set so that Human Capital is a high performing, customer centric organization.
Represents the office on university committees and task forces as needed; advise committees on equal opportunity issues that may affect the committees’ work and provide input in a clear and positive manner.

Desired Skills and Experience
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree required; BS/BA in Business, Management, Human Resources or related field.
Professional experience in Equal Opportunity Employment (EOE) or employee relations that included investigation of complaints and evaluation of EOE procedures;
A minimum of five (5) years of hands on experience in the area of internal equity, diversity with inclusion, access or affirmative action;
Content expert in areas of employee engagement, alternative dispute resolutions, Title VII, Title IX, ADA, similar state and federal laws;
Project Management Skills and an understanding of metrics and measurements;
Ability to understand complex metrics and data;
Demonstrated track record of creative leadership in the development and articulation of affirmative action policy and strategy; and
Effective interpersonal skills to interact with all levels of employees within K-State.
