Director - Foundry Engineering - Samsung Electronics - San Diego

Samsung Semiconductor Inc. is a world leader in Memory, System LSI, and LCD technologies. We are looking for a Director of Foundry Engineer in our San Diego office. This position is responsible for leading a Foundry Customer Engineering team to support the technical engagement, growth and maintenance of Foundry customers. The Foundry Customer Engineering team will continue to work together with our sales and marketing teams to build relationships and grow business with our customer base in North America.

The ideal candidate will be able to manage a highly technical staff and represent a knowledgeable and professional image of Samsung Foundry by servicing customers’ technical needs in an ethical, respectful and professional demeanor and is able to manage a wide range of customers from the largest Tier 1 Fabless semiconductor companies to small start-ups. This person will be responsible for:
Leading a local team and acting as primary engineering interface with the customer(s) and factory.
Will work closely with Customer Engineering team in Samsung’s Headquarters to coordinate and support customer accounts to resolve engineering and manufacturing operational issues with customers.
Work closely with internal sales and marketing teams to provide customer VOC and key input to technology roadmap and foundry offerings.
Assist sales with technical market intelligence gathering to provide full picture of competitive environment
Lead in major negotiations with customers on engineering and manufacturing operational issues to manage business impacts
Stay abreast of the latest technology developments in the semiconductor industry as they relate to Samsung's foundry offerings.
Coordinate with sales and marketing teams in local office to support new customer promotions with technical presentations and presales engineering support
Monitors factory performance on key customer indices and initiates corrective action programs as needed together with factory counterparts
Partners with engineering and business groups at customer and factory to ensure new product introduction activities are meeting schedule and technical requirements

Desired Skills and Experience
10+ years of recent /relevant experience in semiconductor process, product or device engineering
10+ years of recent /relevant experience in 65nm to 20nm and below technology development, product engineering, design tapeout, SI process to testing / packaging / quality.
Experience leading very technical teams with minimal supervision.
Experience working with customers and factory personnel.
Experience working with cross functional organizations with international teams.
Resourceful and innovative, with demonstrated success at developing and implementing original ideas
Willingness to travel international and domestic
