Director - External Reporting - Nike - Portland


Job description
Key Accountabilities – the Director of External Reporting will lead our external reporting team to:
• Coordinate and drive an effective and efficient quarterly and annual SEC reporting process
• Partner with global controlling, reporting, and planning teams to drive alignment between performance management and external reporting requirements
• Partner with Consolidations and other expert controlling functions to drive automation of disclosure related reporting
• Partner with Investor Relations to validate and prepare quarterly earnings release information in accordance with US GAAP and SEC regulations
• Partner with Technical Accounting and Policy teams to maintain leading edge knowledge of evolving SEC disclosure requirements
• Provide support to the greater finance organization on the treatment of accounting and reporting issues
• Prepare materials for NIKE’s disclosure and audit committees
• Ensure compliance with SOX 404 for internal controls over external financial reporting


Desired Skills and Experience
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
• CPA required
• 10+ years extensive experience with Big 4 public accounting; experience within a large multinational, publically-held company highly preferred
• 5+ years proven people management experience
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP and business processes
• Expertise with XBRL
• High standards for quality and attention to detail
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to effectively communicate status, issues, risks and opportunities cases with senior leadership team
• Strong ability to communicate complex and/or controversial topics and concepts to a wide and diverse audience, including meeting facilitation and presentations
• Strong ability to develop high profile, influential and collaborative relationships across teams, functions and layers, preferably inclusive of navigating a large corporation
• Excellent understanding and application of managerial concepts and techniques in areas such as innovation, inspiration, employee development, coaching and engagement
• Proven experience with continuous improvement and/or LEAN-related concepts and change management preferred
• Ability to pass a 7 year background check
