Director - Engineering Operational Support - Airgas - Philadelphia
Job description
Job Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
Provide engineering support to the Zone operations.
Assist Zone Managers in the resolution of technical and operational issues.
Assist Zone Managers in the investigation of operational incidents, the development of corrective and preventive actions.
Support the Plants in the planning and execution of major TAR and repairs.
Participate in the creation, updates and reviews of HAZOP, PHAs, P&IDs, MOCs and SOPs.
Develop scenarios, cost estimates and economic justifications to facilitate the decision-making process at the plant and zone levels.
Provide technical assistance to Sales when answering to new or changing customer requirements.
Manage projects (upgrades and retrofits as well as plant improvements and expansions) at existing locations.
Generate Capital Authorization (CAR) requests and follow-up on the approval process.
Specify equipment and services, select vendors, issue Purchase Requisitions and expedite delivery.
Ensure full compliance with all design, building and regulatory requirements.
Oversee project execution with the Plant Manager so that the end result meets the original requirements, in a timely manner and within budget.
As Operations Representative, participate in the design and execution phases of new Projects.
Ensure that operational concerns are addressed prior to commissioning so that the final plant can be operated safely and efficiently.
Lead PSSR review prior to commissioning of new installations
Share best practices and technical expertise within the zones and with the rest of the organization.
Gather information from the field, identify trends and disseminate information regarding known solutions to recurring or common issues.
Communicate broadly and frequently with the Operations management
Promote compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements, engineering standards, building standards and industry standards.
Participate in the investigation and follow-up of operational incidents.
Periodically audit plants for compliance with CGA, NFPA, EPA, ASME, OSHA regulations and policies.
Lead RCFA analysis of equipment and systems
Assist the Zone Production Manager in the day-to-day handling of operational issues.
Be familiar with existing management tools: Project Management, Scheduling, Accounting, Operational Indicators, Maintenance Tracking, Document Control, etc.
Provide zone management back-up in case of emergency.
Plant troubleshooting
General Requirements:
Skill Set/Knowledge/Expertise
Design, Engineering, project management, construction management, commissioning and start-up.
Solution-oriented, with excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills.
Technical expertise in operation and maintenance of Air Separation Units.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to perform under stress and time constraints.
Comfortable in both Corporate and Field environments.
Physical Requirements
Has no physical limitations to work in industrial plants
Can travel for extended periods of time (1 to 15 days), with little advance warning.
Must be reachable 24/7.
Education and Experience
BS in Engineering
1-5 years of operational or engineering experience
5-10 years in air separation industry
