Director - DevOps - MapR - San Jose

Job description
Summary: MapR is looking for seasoned and passionate DevOps leader (Director of DevOps) to enable world class engineering team to deliver most innovative and open Hadoop platform.
You will play hands-on role and manage the team responsible for build & release, installer development and datacenter management. Your challenge is to deliver next generation continuous integration solution for very complex enterprise grade software and build infrastructure to provide dynamic compute resources to engineering team. Responsibilities:
Define, Design and deliver next generation build system for very complex enterprise grade software built using C++, Java, Python
Define and rollout engineering best practices for SCM, build process, patch management and software delivery over CDN and Apache software license
Define, Design and implement server software packages for Linux (rpm's, deb) and client software for Linux, Mac and Windows
Design and implement distributed software installer using tools such as Ansible, Chef, Python
Manage DevOps budget, HW/SW procurement, building infrastructure (on-premise and cloud) for dynamic resource provisioning
Provide day to day technical guidance and hands on help to engineers
Deliver consistently in a fast-paced environment, giving attention to detail even under high-pressure situations


Key Qualification:
Prior experience (5+ years) as build and release engineer, proficient with B&R tools such Jenkin, scripting, SysAdmin, Compilers, make, rpm, Maven, Gradle
Prior experience (3+ years) in building infrastructure for engineering team - managing budget, negotiation, customer management and project management
Prior background in building server software with integration for code coverage/ code quality / security analysis. Prior knowledge of tools such as Coverity, Purify Plus, JProfile.
Understanding of modern DevOps platform - using products like Docker, Mesos
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, effective collaboration techniques for globally distributed team, a flexible mindset to handle fast moving startup environment and culture
