Position Summary:
The Director of Marketing & Business Development of Corvesta Life Insurance Company (CLIC) is responsible for establishing strategic direction for CLIC in partnership with the Corvesta, Inc. senior leadership team. The position will create and execute strategic initiatives to maximize the growth potential of CLIC’s business in the market. Proactively identify, develop and drive long-term business offerings, sales, marketing and business intelligence strategies and initiatives that will result in profitable growth. This position is responsible for providing a roadmap for CLIC’s new business development efforts; building functional business plans for key strategic growth initiatives and oversight of sales. The incumbent will be accountable for long-term success by establishing and implementing organized operations and communications systems. This position will own cash-flow management and be heavily involved in all financial decisions and develop a process to track all incoming and outgoing funds as well as influence strategic spending decisions based on the company’s cash position.
Essential Function:
Seek out new business opportunities for the organization. Develop, coordinate and implement marketing plans designed to maintain and increase existing business and capture new opportunities.
Collaborates strategic marketing and operating planning with Corvesta’s executive leadership setting objectives and methods to reach them.
Create, evaluate and analyze proposals for new business ideas, new lines of business and products.
Develop analytical tools to research, evaluate and filter ideas from senior management.
Present business offering ideas to executive team and see approval for execution and launch.
Interact with senior level management in IT, Legal, Corporate Strategy, HR, Operations and Sales to help champion new ideas and ensure appropriate size and scope of proposed action plans.
Collaborates with the Executive Management Team to develop and implement plans for the operational infrastructure of systems, processes, and personnel designed to accommodate the rapid growth objectives of the organization.
Demonstrate excellent project management skills, with a proven track record of successful delivery of projects on time, in line with budget expectations and to strategy.
Conduct post-launch assessment of newly implemented initiatives.
Produce in-depth business intelligence to define gaps in business strategy and develop recommendations for action based on sound analysis.
Develop strategy that will take the business offerings through entire lifecycle from concept, design development to market launch.
Oversee underwriting and pricing strategies and manage to optimal profitability.
Develop multi-channel marketing strategy that will incorporate customer requirements with technology and competitive practices.
Builds market position by locating, developing, defining, negotiating, and closing business relationships.
Track key industry trends such as regulatory and competitive challenges, and develop plans and recommendations to mitigate and manage these emerging risks.
Manage Marketing, Sales, and Business Offering Development and Business Intelligence teams.
Identify opportunities for campaigns, services, and distribution channels that will lead to an increase in sales.
Using knowledge of the market and competitors, identify and develop the company’s unique selling propositions and differentiators.
Partner with Finance to assess the financials of potential business development activities, potential alliances, and investments and drive the development of business cases and board papers.
Make presentations to Corvesta Board of Directors and other subsidiary boards or committees as needed.
Directs the development and installation of procedures and controls, to promote communication and adequate information flow, and thereby solidify management control and direction of the organization.
Formulates, approves and implements corporate policies as necessary and commensurate with good business practices to ensure the overall effectiveness of the organization, compliance with regulations and to provide fair and consistent administration.
Desired Skills and Experience
Qualifications/Education/Experience:
Requires Bachelors degree in Marketing, Business Administration, or related field with Masters Degree preferred.
Minimum 10 years industry and/or strategy experience.
In-depth and thorough knowledge of products, strategic/analytic, and marketing concepts.
Operational understanding of insurance business industry and risk taking.
Excellent interpersonal, written, presentation and leadership skills.
Creative thinker with an open mind to learn and explore new areas and opportunities.
Excellent decision making and strategic thinking skills.
Must be strategic visionary for the company with a strong operational focus.
High technical competence required.
