Communications Director - NerdWallet - San Francisco


Job description
NerdWallet is looking for an accomplished, high-energy Communications Director with a proven track record of securing quality national media coverage. This is a highly visible, prominent position within the organization for a communications professional that demonstrates strategic thinking, confidence, creativity, collaboration, and a focus on driving programs forward efficiently and effectively.
You have the ability to think big as well as rollup your sleeves to execute tactically and mentor your team. You will be responsible for creating campaign strategies, implementation and measurement. Your drive to succeed will be apparent in not only the volume of press coverage you can generate but the analytical skills to see if we are growing NerdWallet’s brand.


Where you can make an impact:
Media Strategy - Work with the executive leadership team to define and implement media strategies to support of the company’s push to become a mainstream consumer brand
Mentoring - Mentor junior staff and create development opportunities that leverage their passion for NerdWallet and career advancement
Executive Coaching - You will need to be comfortable training and coaching executives before their media appearances
Thought Leadership - Create programs that allow our executives to spread the message of the importance of financial literacy and the impact it can have on our everyday lives
Project Management - Manage internal team members, agency relationships and third party spokespeople confidently and successfully driving to greater brand awareness

You are:
Strong in your oral and written communications skills
Outstanding in your interpersonal and prioritization skills
Collaborative, have an open attitude and a history of working in and leading cross-functional teams
Strong in your project management skills and the ability to align them with corporate and strategic objectives
Excellent in your teamwork skills, high energy, and a self-starter with a can-do attitude
Your experience:
BS/BA in relevant field minimum
10+ years experience managing high profile media relations program with a mix of in-house and agency experience
Led the PR function at a business unit or corporate level
Experience and aptitude for using range of tools to measure analytics and use these to drive improved performance
Experience and contacts with not only with technology media contacts but more importantly with mainstream consumer media
