Director - Technology - Racepoint Global - Boston


Job description
The Director, Technology leads a group of skilled developers, partnering across capabilities (Creative, Marketing, PR, Media and Delivery) and external clients to manage and deliver innovative interactive projects on time and within budget. The Director provides hands-on support for all phases of development from the design, coding and testing through implementation.

As a senior member of the agency’s management team, the Director provides recommendations and insight for enhancing technologies/platforms that power clients’ digital marketing/media initiatives. He/She must have significant experience aligning digital technologies to business needs, as well as with scoping, maintaining budgets and resources for multiple technology projects. Additionally, the Director participates in the business development process and contributes to building and nurturing client relationships. The Director reports to the SVP/Creative Director.

Key responsibilities include:

Leads and manages a team of developers in the research and implementation of all creative technology solutions
Serves as a key resource for clients in providing technology insights and recommendations
Accountable for all technology projects and their phases of development from the design, coding and testing through implementation
Contributes to the creative process by providing the internal team with recommendations for browser technologies and guidelines
Partners with agency team to develop initial concepts, define project scopes and timelines, as well as ensure quality and timely development and delivery of projects
Identifies and resolves unforeseen technical issues with agency team
Determines requirements and estimates hours for project needs to ensure efficient delivery of programs and help manage client expectations around deliverables
Proactive in understanding the clients’ business processes while maintaining an awareness of new technologies that can enable unique solutions for the agency and it’s clients
Develops and tests client side interface implementations for conformance to creative and development specifications

Desired Skills and Experience
Top consideration given to candidates coming from ad/marketing agency environments, and those who have experience working on cross-functional teams
BA or BS, preferably in computer science, engineering, or science/technology-based discipline
10+ years experience; 3-5 years experience leading/managing the development of data driven web-based applications
Mastery of software engineering methodologies; proven ability to research, design and lead implementations of tools and other modules – knowledge of Microsoft technologies is a plus
Solid understanding of User Interface design methodologies
Excellent client handling and presentation skills; solid people management skills
