Prime UI/UX Manager, UX Design

You are a highly motivated, detail-oriented, energetic individual with excellent written and oral skills who is not afraid to think outside the box, plan, and execute. In this role, you will manage a dynamic, trend-setting, fast paced UX team responsible for moving the needle on network web apps:

Responsibilities

Contribute to the design of a platform and GUI widgets used in more than 100 products Cisco-wide
Manage the design of key applications in web and mobile
Define and execute strategic improvements in design for both brownfield and greenfield projects
Manage a team of design and usability professionals
Interface with design and development partners within the team and across Cisco
Promote and coordinate use of our platform and style guide
Lead the team to deliver creative and pragmatic solutions to complex problems
Create compelling, competitive, executable designs in a rapidly evolving domain

Experience

• Ten or more years experience in design roles, delivering web designs for large and small customers, enterprise and consumer
• At least five years experience as a people manager accountable for planning, execution, and hands-on management
• Strong technical understanding of web technologies and coding practices, especially as they influence design opportunities
• Experience with agile methods and working with multiple teams on multiple projects
• Experience with a variety of prototyping methods and design tools
• Deep knowledge of patterns, guidelines, and design principles
• Passion for watching new developments in the design community with hands-on experimentation
• Experience giving and receiving design critiques, conducting reviews and evaluations, and demonstrating design leadership
• Experience designing usability and other research protocols and conducting formal and informal evaluations
• A curiosity about and passion for new tools and techniques, particularly in visualization, GUI widgets, and reducing complexity
• Critical thinking and excellent analysis and communication skills (both verbal and written)
• Ability to balance the ‘big picture’ with the details
• Domain knowledge of networking fundamentals a plus

Education

Bachelor's degree in Interaction Design or equivalent, or five or more years of relevant experience
Coursework in or familiarity with Javascript, HTML5, CSS3
Coursework in or specialization in visualization and gamification a plus
