Job description
Energy:
We work with energy leaders to aggressively strengthen their enterprises and help them make choices that ensure energy reliability, efficiency, and serviceability, as well as improve business performance. We focus on issues across the entire electric and natural gas energy value chain including fuels, generation (renewable, fossil, hydro, nuclear), transmission, energy markets, energy delivery, and consumption (including energy efficiency and demand response).

Director Oil & Gas:
As a member of Navigant’s Oil & Gas team within the Energy Practice, the successful candidate’s mission will be to help grow an already strong management consulting business, helping to continue the company’s expansion at industry leading growth rates. Leveraging its strengths and well known expertise in business and strategic planning, performance improvement and benchmarking, operational excellence in the oil & gas sector, the Director will develop a “go to” market strategy and grow a strong pipeline of business in the first year. In addition, she/he will lead consulting engagement execution and client relationship management activities.

Key responsibilites of the position include:
Contributing to overall growth strategy including business model advancement and consulting practice creation
Forging new client relationships and actively contributing to the overall client delivery capacity of the practice
Creating and managing a steady flow of client revenue with the ability to bring the best of all Navigant service lines and offerings to clients
Creating and developing innovative solutions to client issues, focusing primarily on the Oil and Gas sector.
Developing clear and focused client account delivery strategies and account plans
Leading and motivating project teams to focus and execute on client promises
Shaping, sponsoring, and personally investing in career development of company consultants and managers as future firm leaders
Showing thought leadership, developing new intellectual capital, and contributing to the firm beyond pure business generation and execution

Measures of Success:
After twelve months, the Director will be expected to demonstrate:
A robust pipeline of qualified and developed opportunities
The ability to help create and deliver consulting offerings in areas like strategy, operations improvement, capital projects advisory, supply chain operations, strategic sourcing, and pricing.
The productive coordination of internal relationships to acquire and manage resources and allow the business to grow and proceed smoothly
A very collaborative and constructive working relationship with direct reports and professionals in other Navigant practice areas that can contribute to bringing transformative performance results to clients
The creation of new, market ready intellectual capital

Desired Skills and Experience
Qualifications:

It is critically important that the successful candidate have a 10 plus year track record selling and delivering high-level management consulting services to blue chip clients in the Oil & Gas industry. Upstream, midstream and/or downstream experience are desirable. Of overall importance is the candidate’s passion, desire, and proven ability to grow a consulting business, lead consulting teams, and thrive in a highly collaborative, partnership driven, environment.
Possesses an ability to comprehend and address the client's business problems, especially within the strategy and operations functional areas
Successfully drives all phases of the business generation cycle from opportunity identification to shaping the solution, proposing the work, and closing the engagement
Maintains and enhances long-term relationships with clients to ensure client satisfaction and generates opportunities for others within the firm
Develops key accounts into annuity revenue streams
Creates new client relationships and delivers new business revenue by leveraging her/his industry presence
Understands the current trends, issues, and best practices surrounding the capital and operations area within the oil & gas sector
Establishes immediate credibility by demonstrating an understanding of oil & gas capital, operations improvement, and supply chain issues and the capability to address them
Practices methodologically based consulting, preferably in a well-respected “Big” or niche consulting firm
Is able to work “hands-on” in a variety of assignments
Collaborates effectively with other members of an assignment team and liaises effectively with the client in order to ensure that projects are executed effectively to solve clients’ needs
Has a track record of overseeing multiple, million-dollar plus engage­ments and a reference list of satisfied clients
Possesses an excellent executive presence; an excellent communicator
Works effectively within a true global partnership and in a team environment
Entrepreneurial, flexible, and innovative - not hierarchical and rigid
Owns superior conceptual and analytical skills
Mentors and develops other consultants
Navigates successfully in a highly matrixed, rapidly changing organization with flexibility and a sense of humor
Travel expectations of 50%
