Director - Product Management - Graduate Management Admission Council - GMAC - Washington


Job description
The Product Management Department is responsible for anticipating, identifying, and gathering market problems and addressing these problem by launching products profitably. In addition, the department is responsible for defining the overall strategic roadmap for GMAC’s products and services while collaborating cross-functionally to achieve best in class results.

The Director, Product Management is responsible for managing the consumer products portfolio for GMAC. These responsibilities include creating a portfolio strategy and roadmap, overseeing a product management team, collaborating with Business Technology, Marketing and Market Development to plan, launch and promote product feature strategies to meet GMAC® business objectives.

Primary Accountabilities:

Develop product strategy and roadmaps for consumer products
Responsible for consumer products top line growth and bottom line management through Profit & Loss (P&L) statements.
Oversee Product Managers as they manage product lifecycle to achieve business, financial and overall GMAC goals by analyzing product opportunities, preparing positioning documents and business plans that include competitive analyses and pricing strategies and developing user scenarios and requirements for products.
Collaborate with other departments including Business Technology, Product Development, Marketing and Market Development to ensure Product Management goals are being met by both new and redesigned products.
Manage a high performance team

Desired Skills and Experience
Minimum Requirements

Bachelor degree in Accounting or Business
3-5 years of hands on GL and revenue accounting experience in a non-profit or corporate environment
Intermediate Excel proficiency
Analytical skills to independently explain transactional variances
Proficient in US GAAP accounting and ability to research independently and apply to assignments
Strong ability to pay attention to detail
Time and organizational management skills and ability to prioritize multiple projects
Flexibility in taking on ad hoc assignments
Excellent oral and written communication skills

Desired Skills

Experience in public accounting
Experience using Oracle, Peoplesoft is a plus.
Experience in SOX compliant environment
