Vice President - Data Strategy, Analytics & Insights - K12 - Washington


Job description
The VP of Data Strategy, Analytics & Insights is a data scientist who leads the K12 Marketing & Enrollment Analytics team, and develops and manages all aspects of marketing analytics and decision modeling - including report design, data capture development and implementation processes. This position reports directly to Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing & Enrollment Officer and partners with key stakeholders to help the company evolve and scale.

The successful candidate will set the vision, strategy and focus for the data analytics competency within K12. This is a high-impact senior leader role that requires in-depth familiarity and comfort in working with a variety of data sources to measure the effectiveness and ROI of activities and campaigns.

• Create and oversee the data analytics vision, strategy, and related operational requirements
• Work with internal and external K12 stakeholders to identify and develop needed tools and services including modeling, dashboards, regular and ad-hoc reports;
• Create, model and implement new data architecture and analytics solutions;
• Develop and institutionalize repeatable processes for data analysis and reporting;
• Lead the ongoing management of Media Mix models to optimally allocate marketing spend;
• Direct a team of analysts and data scientists to develop Student Lifetime Value which will drive targeted strategies and investment decisions;
• Manage cross-functional team that oversees Enrollment Forecasting model, linking media spend to Demand and Enrollment Center staffing;
• Define, scope and lead the development of an Enterprise Marketing Database that serves as the primary source of record for prospect, student and alumni information;
• Lead the analysis of large data sets to discover trends, identify performance metrics and uncover optimization opportunities; • Review, research, and construct software systems and algorithms to predict, explain behavior and to solve business problems- specifically building both predictive and recommendation models;
• Identify new strategic and growth opportunities consistent with K12’s data strategy, architecture, analytics and market positioning; • Develop scalable, innovative approaches to extracting, managing and analyzing data;
• Use machine learning and data mining to help design and implement algorithms to analyze and model big data sets;
• Cultivate strong and mutually respectful relationships across the organization and partner with K12’s leadership to solve problems and identify trends and opportunities;
• Identify new and existing sources of enriched data, both within and outside of K12, to enhance the company’s ability to identify and present relevant messages – and to attract and retain new students and clients
• Oversee planning, budgeting, policies and business practices

• Must be able to navigate and find win/win solutions among stakeholders with, at times, divergent interest, but whose cooperation is required for success.
• Support positive approach to change management – including accountability for communication, execution and measurement of change -- across a diverse group of provider stakeholders.
• Build leads and manages the Data Strategy, Analytics & Insights Analytics Team;
• Refines and enhances the companies’ data feedback process;
• Manages complex data by establishing data policies, standards, organization and enforcement of data governance;

• Strong managerial, leadership, and strategic thinking skills.
• Sophisticated understanding of statistical analysis, experience with statistical and predictive modeling analysis tools.
• Successful experience building and optimizing algorithms for online media.
• Experience with relational databases and SQL, audience segmentation, conversion attribution and modeling.
• Ability to communicate complex quantitative analysis in a clear, precise, actionable and effective manner.
• Skilled in developing and leading team toward common goals and strategic objectives.
• Knowledge of best practices and industry trends in data analytics
• Subject matter expertise in all dimensions of marketing data management, along with a deep understanding of the opportunities to improve marketing using predictive models, digital direct marketing test scenarios, and ROI analysis.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: • PhD in math, statistics, biostatistics, science or engineering
