Marketing Communications Director - Lockheed Martin - Gaithersburg
Job Description
The Marketing Communications Director is part of the Lockheed Martin Information Systems & Global Solutions (IS&GS) communications team and is responsible for developing and executing new strategies and plans to drive market visibility, lead generation, and business goal attainment. This role requires hands-on experience successfully working with Sales and/or Business Development teams to identify key business needs; translating them into aggressive, actionable marketing plans that include creative and effective tactics for lead generation and awareness promotion.
The positions reports into the Vice President of Communications and manages a content development and marketing communications team.
Key Responsibilities:
• Revamp overall marketing and go-to-market strategy in collaboration with Business Development and other internal executives
• Define and implement specific solutions-based marketing strategies and plans
• Establish and maintain customer engagement plans which may include customer direct marketing and social media marketing strategies
• Enhance messaging and positioning of Information Systems & Global Solutions with current and potential customers and partners
• Develop and manage marketing operations budget
• Develop and create marketing collateral including but not limited to advertising, brochures, newsletters, white papers, presentations, videos and scripts
• Develop and execute lead generating marketing activities including advertising, email campaigns, trade shows and events
• Leverage a "test, measure and refine" approach to constantly improve program results and increase the impact of customer marketing on revenue and profitability
• Work with the business development and sales team to ensure that they are briefed on marketing programs and have the right tools to follow up as required
• Develop partner marketing programs, working to maximize marketing opportunities
• Work with the web team to ensure that marketing programs are accurately reflected on our website and that all required lead acquisition components are fully in place
• Prepare monthly marketing activity report including ROI and present to executive management on a regular basis
• Target and develop relationships with partners and key people in the industry
• Maintain daily awareness of marketing activities by major competitors
• Oversee agencies and suppliers, negotiate contract terms and conditions for major services, serves as liaison
• Act as a brand champion for LMCO ensuring our brand standards are maintained
• Act as primary interface for and collaborate with corporate marketing team to business area; sit on LMCO marketing and trade show teams
• Serve as marketing expert for business area and ensure coordination with lines of business
• Review all marketing content, with emphasis on proper usage and style, line editing, formatting
• Manage a team of professionals in content development and marketing communications
Basic Qualifications
• An undergraduate degree in English, Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Business, Marketing or a related field is required and 15+ years relevant experience.
• Significant experience marketing in a business to business, business to government and IT services- or consulting-based environment.
• The ideal candidate will have strong writing, editing, relationship-building, problem-solving and oral/written presentation skills.
• Candidate must be organized, enthusiastic, results oriented, innovative and able to deal with ambiguity and tight deadlines while working effectively in a team environment.
• Candidate must be a self-starter.
• This is a leader role.
Desired skills

• Proven track record in developing integrated marketing plans in a highly competitive market space
