Director - Product Marketing – Software-Defined Data Center Suite - VMware - Palo Alto
Job description
This position will report to the Vice President of Product Marketing for the Software-Defined Data Center (SDDC) Suite business unit. SDDC vision is to develop a unified data center platform that delivers compute, storage, availability, and networking as a set of software services. VMware Product Marketing Managers lead cross-functional teams, setting the overall vision for product go-to-market strategy, monitoring key performance indicators, understanding the dynamics of both direct and channel sales, and influencing many teams towards common goals. Product marketing managers at VMware are responsible for driving the marketing strategy, positioning, messaging, pricing, packaging, field enablement and evangelism of their solutions.
This leadership role will focus on messaging and field enablement for our vCloud and vSphere Operations Manager suite of products.
* Develop positioning and messaging that resonate with customers, communicating product features/capabilities in terms and categories that customers understand, care about and are willing to pay for.
* Build financial models to help drive strategic decisions such as pricing and packaging.
* Develop strategic plans to capitalize on new market opportunities. Present plan to VMware executives.
* Determine and drive a go-to-market strategy that will enable VMware to have successful product launches and enter the market as a product leader.
* Work with a cross-functional team (e.g. business development, alliances, product management, sales, channel partners, and engineering) to drive successful product releases
* Know the customer. Have close relationships with important customers and be able to evangelize how our products have been successful in different customer scenarios
* Work with sales to understand the SDDC Suites sales cycle such as buyer personas, sales motions and adoption barriers. Work with a cross functional team to streamline the sales cycle.

* Create sales enablement materials that help sales reps and partners effectively position and sell our Suites against the competition
Requirements:
* Technical degree / experience and MBA preferred
* 10 plus years of experience in product marketing for an enterprise software company
* 3 plus years of leadership/management experience
* Excellent communication skills including experience with executives
* Experience selling through multiple channels, including direct sales, VAR, and SI
* Demonstrated success in leading cross functional teams and effective project management and analytical/decision-making skills
* Self-starter, high-energy, with ability to execute on business objectives
* Strong teamwork and inter-personal skills
* Ability to multitask, change priorities rapidly and work under pressure
