Director - Corporate Quality and Continuous Improvement - Olympus IMS - Waltham


Job description
Job Summary:
Responsible for directing corporate quality and continuous improvement, This position will champion continuous improvement efforts and defect reduction initiatives through hand’s on management and support of continuous improvement activities whose purpose is to raise the company’s operational performance. This position will also support Supply Chain management programs focused on supplier selection and performance. This position will lead optimization of the company’s quality management system.
This position will ensure that products and services meet customer needs and expectations while fulfilling corporate quality objectives. Will participate in new product design from beginning to end, insuring that manufacturing and service process capabilities match customer requirements. This position will interface with Olympus Corp.QA and assist executive management with the continued improvement of the corporate quality plan.
Evaluation of performance will be based on ability to:

successfully collaborate with other departments and employees within Olympus
champion corporate level planning and implementation of quality initiatives
anticipate and effectively resolve problems

Desired Skills and Experience
REQUIREMENTS
Working knowledge of ISO 9001, 14001, OSHAS 18001.
Lean Practitioner
Experienced in Corrective Action processes such as 8-D, PDMA, 5 Why.
Experienced working with Suppliers regarding quality improvements.
Experienced in the QA aspects of Supplier evaluation and selection.
Excellent project leadership skills.
Highly organized, ability to manage multiple projects, analyze risk, and set priorities
Outstanding organizational and communication skills.
Knowledge of MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Visio.
Ability to champion corporate level planning and implementation of quality initiatives
Committed to the profession with a high sense of professional integrity
Strong interpersonal, facilitation, and presentation skills that can inspire and motivate a team
Formal education or training in Quality Assurance for manufacturing operation is preferred.
Able to travel approximately 25% of the time.

EDUCATION:
BS/BA in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Manufacturing Engineering preferred

EXPERIENCE:
6 to 8 years in a manufacturing environment as a manager or director
5 years Lean experience, preferably in an implementation position
3+ years of experience in a similar leadership role within Quality Assurance or related activity.
Proven track record of leading organizations through teamwork, collaboration and open communication.
