Director - Development - Cisco - San Jose

Job description
As a Director of Engineering in Cisco’s Enterprise Network Management business, you will be responsible for engineering strategy and execution across the portfolio of enterprise products. The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of software development practices, network and cloud management domains, appropriate business acumen to work cross functionally and proven track record of developing engineering talent.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Hires, develops and manages an innovative and dynamic team of highly skilled engineers and Quality Assurance/testing folks
• Ensures successful engineering execution by the team and strategic vendors
• Works very tightly across the engineering leadership team to ensure that the teams are working to support the overall business unit strategy
• Implements engineering process, tools and executes to deliver quality product on-time
• Implements automation and scalability and performance managements for CSMTG’s enterprise product
Required Experience and Skills:
• Strong strategic thinking, analytical, leadership, influence, communication skills and of course, a positive can-do attitude are a must
• Management of both direct and cross-functional teams
• Undergraduate degree in engineering is highly desirable
• 15+ years relevant experience in engineering management
• 15+ years of RDBMS (Oracle preferred) performance tuning and scalability
• Extensive experience in building large enterprise applications that scale
• Knowledge and prior experience in networking management strongly preferred
• Knowledge and prior experience with networking products (wireless, switch, router, etc.), datacenter architectures, enterprise solutions/architectures
• Proven ability to drive innovation and deliver great products
• Customer engagement experience up to and including CXO-level
• Strong team player, results oriented, metrics driven and capable of working in a fast paced, changing environment
• Superior ability to build relationships with peers among engineering, product management, marketing, operations and sales
