Department Overview
The Information Technology (IT) organization designs, develops, operates and maintains the technology and telecommunications systems that enable PG&E to meet its commitment to providing safe, reliable and affordable service to customers.
Key groups within the IT organization include:
• Business Technology (BT)
• Infrastructure & Operations (I&O)
• IT Program Office
• Enterprise Technology Risk Management (ETRM)
The Telecommunications and Network Operations group sits in the Infrastructure & Operations organization within IT and is responsible for planning, engineering, documentation and third tier support for the operations and maintenance of telecommunications systems and networking operations.
Position Summary
The Senior Director, Telecom & Network Services is responsible for overseeing all telecommunications, networking infrastructure and telecommunications construction services.
Qualifications
Minimum:
• BA/BS in computer science, information systems, engineering or other related field.
• Eight years of experience in IT project/program management or infrastructure/Network/Telecommunications operations experience.
• Five years of experience managing large projects/programs with track record of delivering in a timely, cost-effective and solutions oriented manner.
• Experience with NERC compliance, FIRC, MPLS and Cybersecurity.
• 10 years of supervisory and leadership experience
• Ability to translate complex business requirements into IT solutions
• Experience in conceptualizing creative solutions and presenting them to senior management.
• Ability to develop and manage budgets.
Desired:
• MBA or MS in computer science, engineering or other related field.
• Experience in the Utility industry/business.
• Proficient in conceptualizing creative solutions, as well as documenting them and presenting/selling them to senior management
• Demonstrated ability to lead and influence others in a matrix organization
• Experience managing union members.
• Deep experience building partnerships and working collaboratively across Lines of Business.
• ITIL Certification: Foundations, Practitioner, Manager
• Project Management Institute Certification: Project Management Professional
• Six Sigma Certification: Green belt, black belt, master black belt
• Infrastructure Discipline Platform Specific Certifications. For example, VMware, MS Windows, Hitachi, Cisco, etc.
Responsibilities
• Manages the business relationships with senior leaders and relevant stakeholders.
• Ensures and has direct accountability for the successful implementation of new/enhanced systems on time, in scope and within budget.
• Oversees compliance to standards/regulations and governance processes.
• Manages the development, alignment and execution of technology roadmap.
• Manages and directs internal and externals technical, professional and management staff in the successful fulfillment of IT development and service delivery commitments.
• Identifies opportunities to make IT business processes more effective and efficient. Directs the implementation of improvement initiatives.
• Manages the assessment and mitigation of risk for the organization.
• Stays current with new technologies.
• Provides strategy, planning and leadership for all Telecom and Network Services initiatives.
• Establish comprehensive service level agreements.
