Job description
The Master Data Governance Groups mission statement is to improve efficiency and lower business risks to Ralph Lauren’s business units by ensuring that the highest quality data is delivered, managed and maintained via company-wide data governance strategy. This entails continuously improving data quality and management through global processes, standards and technologies, enabling consistent and accurate reporting and inter-operability of systems, with the ongoing support of Data Governance Councils. The primary areas of focus for this team are Finance, Material, Customer and Vendor (Merchandise) and associated tables (Hierarchy definition, Attributes global and regional etc)

As the Master Data Manager, the primary role and responsibility of this position is in managing the development of validation models to meet data quality requirements in line with the defined processes and standards as well as supervise and support Data Quality analysts in their daily tasks.
The individual is expected to have a keen understanding of the business processes being assessed for quality covering all domains (Material, Vendor and Customer Master) and will also be required to support the development of Policies and Procedures and Data Dictionaries across domains.

Accountabilities:
– Develop and implement Master Data policies and procedures
– Implement process improvements through introduction of appropriate work flows, data upload tools, approval processes
– Identify and manage critical data management issues and risks
– Work with IS and Business Project Managers on Master Data influenced projects
– Ensure compliance with company and security policies and/or SOX requirements.
– Design and develop tracking and monitoring tools to validate data.
– Build and maintain data quality metrics reporting.
– Troubleshoot data issues, validate result sets, recommend and implement process improvements, provide ad-hoc reports and analysis.
– Perform Impact Analysis on data related defects in impacted systems, primarily SAP
– Facilitate Data Cleanup exercises in impacted systems, primarily SAP
– Active engagement in the regular data cleansing projects
– Identify and manage critical data management issues and risks
– Contribute to the continued development of master data dictionaries
– Contribute to the design of the process for input, review, and maintenance of systems master data through use of written procedures and forms ensuring standardisation and accuracy across multiple systems
– Contribute to the on-going development of the Master Data Function

Desired Skills and Experience
Must Have
– Sound working knowledge of IT Systems, specifically SAP; to include practical knowledge of Microsoft Office (Intermediate to Advanced)
– Understanding of how data is used within business processes and its impact
– Ability to organize workload, and the capacity to progress a range of tasks and projects at one time
– Ability to interact with IT resources when technology roles and capabilities are required to facilitate any and all aspects of the MDG initiative
– The ability to communicate well with administrative staff, external organizations and with other staff at all levels
– Highly motivated, committed, effective and supportive team member, able to work flexibly, quickly and accurately to tight deadlines
– Very methodical and accurate, displaying a strong desire for high quality, with attention to detail
– Excellent documentation skills
– Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing environments
– The ability to work independently and as part of a team

Nice to have:
– Multiple years of exposure (directly working within) relevant key business processes
– Deep retail and wholesale industry experience
– Hands on experience in production and consumption of relevant data
– Fluent in English + at least 1 other European language (French; German; Italian)
