We currently have an opportunity for a Director of Scientific Affairs who will be responsible for building strong relationships between Fenwal and the transfusion medicine, therapeutic apheresis and cell therapy communities, and developing and leading various scientific advisory boards. This includes leveraging core technical competencies to ensure that clinical research and regulatory processes meet US regulatory and quality standards and acting as the scientific liaison between customers, regulatory agencies and Fenwal, and assisting the Fenwal commercial team in understanding and discussing clinical concepts with customers.

Responsibilities include:
Manage external scientific relationships and liaise with transfusion medicine supergroups: blood center groups (ARC, BCA, etc.), AdvaMed, ASFA, AABB, BEST, ASFA, ISBT, clinical study sites, scientific advisory boards. Develop Fenwal as a potential resource to regulators and policy makers, and serve as industry representative on relevant boards, committees and task forces.
Develop relationships with regulatory agencies (FDA & HHS) key personnel and their advisory committees (BPAC & ACBSA).
Build relationships with industry KOLs to identify and address scientific needs and stay abreast of current scientific trends.
Leverage core technical competencies to conduct face-to-face scientific meetings with key hospital and blood center accounts.
Collaborate with internal partners in R&D and commercial teams to analyze clinical data, and assist with post-market study design and management.
Collect and communicate clinical insights and intelligence on the market environment, clinical strategies, competition, and other developments relevant to Fenwal’s success.
Represent and support Fenwal at key scientific meetings including congresses, symposia, advisory boards, and investigator meetings. Interpret and report findings with recommendations for action to relevant internal stakeholders.
Help Business Development evaluate new technologies for commercial applications.
Lead the development of journal publication strategies that support the growth of existing products and the development of new products and product features.

Desired Skills and Experience
PhD. in the sciences with an established and recognized track record in the transfusion medicine industry or health sciences; in-depth scientific and therapeutic knowledge within transfusion medicine and cellular therapy areas
12+ years experience with publications in peer reviewed journals and presentations at professional meetings; prior experience as a reviewer for Transfusion or other relevant publication is a plus
Previous Medical Science Liaison or equivalent clinical role experience preferred
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to establish professional relationships at business level within Fenwal and throughout a technically diverse community
Ability to travel 30-40%
