Director - Marketing - SanDisk - Milpitas
Job description
As the Director for the outbound Product and Solutions Marketing team, you will lead the team responsible for the customer-, partner-, and sales-facing marketing activities for SanDisk's Enterprise Flash Storage products and solutions. The ultimate goal is to accelerate sales of SanDisk’s Enterprise Flash Storage hardware and software by creating preference for SanDisk data center offerings, shortening the sales cycle and building repeat purchases. You will oversee crafting the messaging and positioning for Solid State Drive (SSD) related products and solutions for horizontal workloads (e.g. server & client virtualization, Big Data analytics, OLTP database applications) and vertical solutions (e.g. Financial Services, large Web 2.0 data centers, Service Providers, etc.) for the data center. Key customer targets are OEM system vendors, hyperscale data centers, traditional data centers and line-of-business application owners in mid-size to large enterprises. A key part will be guiding the team in developing web, social media, mobile and print collateral that will be delivered in the form of blogs, twitter posts, solution overviews, white papers, customer presentation slides, data sheets, FAQs, TCO calculators, sales & reseller training material, on-line community participation, trade show booth & promotional messaging, video testimonials/ demos/ tutorials, lead nurturing campaign content, and other sales tools. You will lead the team of outbound marketing managers to conceive and develop innovative marketing programs and lead nurturing campaigns that drive demand in conjunction with selected OEM system vendors and partners. You will hold the team accountable for attention to detail and an eye for quality, along with the ability to grasp and translate technical capabilities into easily understood customer and economic benefits is crucial. In your role as Director for the outbound Product and Solutions Marketing team you will teach the team in how to be experts in economic and technical buyers, how they buy and their buying criteria and will transfer that knowledge to the sales & reseller channel.
The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of the Enterprise IT and/or hyperscale data center market, customer needs, and the ability to creatively position and differentiate technical solutions to strategic (both technical and business) decision makers as well as the field and channel.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead the development of product and solution positioning and messaging that differentiates SanDisk Enterprise Storage in the marketplace
• Inspire sales enablement – Communicate the value proposition of the products to the sales team & resellers and develop the sales tools that support the selling process of your products
• Drive Product launches – Plan the launch of new products and releases and be a key driver in the cross-functional implementation of the plan. Create the overall go-to-market plan, including the list of deliverables, as well as the owners, key milestones, and due date for all assets
• Gather and exploit Market intelligence – Be the expert on your buyers, how they buy and their buying criteria; be the expert on your competition and how to crush them
• Spur demand generation – Develop the strategy and manage the marketing programs that drive and nurture demand for your products. Create a global, cross-functional marketing plan.
• Actively leverage Social media - Drive outbound marketing content, as appropriate, including blog posts, LinkedIn, Facebook and/or Twitter postings, YouTube videos and other emerging online community engagement
• Function as the liaison between product teams, solution alliances and corporate marketing, aligning with corporate resources to efficiently produce and publish all relevant product and solution materials; ensure all external materials are properly reviewed and edited prior to posting; determine and manage schedule for development and review cycles
• Represent Enterprise Storage Solutions in major corporate SanDisk initiatives and campaigns, ensuring that all relevant products are appropriately included in overarching messaging, as well as all relevant outbound materials.

• Ability to evangelize products and communicate their key benefits to internal and external stakeholders, including press and analysts, customers/prospects, channel and technology partners, field sales, executives, and other SanDisk businesses
• Excellent copywriting/editing, presentation, and verbal communication skills
• Proven capability to lead cross-functional teams, including outside marketing agencies, to complete projects and major initiatives using judgment, experience and leadership skills
• Superior ability to build relationships with peers among product management, solution alliances, business development, engineering, corporate marketing and sales, as well as OEMs and other third parties
• Tackles complex issues in creative ways and uses originality, ingenuity and expertise to create effective and lasting solutions
• Independent work-style - ability to plan and execute with little direction
• Strong analytical skills. Comfortable using spreadsheets to analyze budget, results and market data
• Demonstrated aptitude in learning and understanding new customer work flows and new product capabilities
• Strong team player, results oriented, metrics driven and capable of working in a fast paced, changing environment
• Be willing to learn new solutions and technology – always be teachable
• Ability to operate in a virtual environment across multiple time zones. Willing to engage in periodic meetings outside of normal business hours.
• Willing to travel 25%
• 5+ years of Storage or Server product & solutions marketing experience with at least 2 years experience in a field facing role
• Bachelor’s in business or marketing or engineering, MBA preferred
