Job description
JOB SUMMARY:
The Director Marketing, Microsurgery (MS) is responsible for the development and execution for the USA downstream marketing and distribution strategies to drive revenue and margin for the USA; supporting the MS Sales Management and field sales force in marketing matters (including assisting in the management of distributor relations) and developing and managing related budgeting and revenue planning functions for Carl Zeiss Meditec’s Microsurgery Group in the United States. The Director Marketing also interacts with the Microsurgery Group’s upstream marketing efforts by closely interfacing with the respective upstream teams, (located in Germany) on local market needs and requirements. The Director is influential in executing CZMI’s internal as well as external growth strategies and takes the lead on all local marketing activities related to this Group.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Direct U.S. Microsurgery marketing organization to achieve annual sales and profit plans
Assist in the development of the group long term strategic plan for the Group’s Microsurgery products and develop and execute the local implementation.
Contribute to new product development plans and programs
Plan, organize, staff, train and develop CZMI’s Microsurgery Group marketing personnel
Develop, implement and manage annual budget Plan, organize, staff, train and develop CZMI’s Microsurgery marketing staff.
Develop and manage promotional plans and materials for major trade shows.
Develop and manage Key Opinion Leader programs.
Plan and successfully execute product launches.
Support Sales organization in upgrading, changing, motivating, managing and maintaining “elite” distributor network.
Identify and develop new local strategic alliances to broaden CZMI’s commercial opportunities
Develop and capitalize on fresh revenue opportunities; implement for maximum effect within distribution channel.
Desired Skills and Experience
REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree required; MBA a plus.
Minimum of 12 years of progressive marketing and sales/sales management experience in the medical device industry. Distributor management experience preferred.
Minimum of five (5) years of staff management and budgetary responsibilities.
Capital equipment experience in the medical / surgical setting (e.g. Neurosurgery, ENT, Ophthalmology, Dental) essential.
Strong distributor sales/”downstream marketing” experience mandatory.
Strong analytical skills and ability to clearly communicate policy decisions company strategy and vision
Strong project management and process improvement experience.
Experienced knowledge of financial analysis and analysis tools (i.e. spreadsheets, etc.)
Requires 30% travel.
