Director - Engineering - Amplify - Midtown Manhattan

Amplify Education is looking for a Director of Engineering to head up our Admin Tools teams. We look for people who want to make a difference with the products they are a part of, have experience building inspiring great software teams, and know how to things done in spite of any distractions, noise, and other competing demands. As the director of engineering, you will be empowered, responsible and accountable for the delivery of the products you own and the happiness and productivity of the teams you lead.

If you have passion for lean software delivery, an aptitude to amplifying people’s strengths, as well as a desire to create something meaningful, you will be in good company at Amplify Access. You’ll have a key role in delivering our new and innovative tablet-based product, utilizing agile development practices to deliver features to our users as often as we can and doing our best to learn, improve, and enjoy each day.

Responsibilities:
Build, lead, and manage multiple cross-functional agile development teams to deliver, support and maintain innovative tablet and web features from concept to production
Own the technical vision for the products and identify risks, dependencies, and opportunities
Work closely with Product Managers to ensure the product roadmaps are realistic but aggressive, features are innovative and useful, and success metrics are identified and reviewed.
Help identify areas for improvement in our software development practices, processes, and tools.
Ensure the team and code base follows and supports the standards, patterns, and practices that have been defined and agreed upon.
Mentor, lead, and provide feedback to members of the team
Help build awareness of the Amplify within the tech community through meetups, conferences, and open source contributions

Desired Skills and Experience
Required Skills:
BA/BS in Computer Science (or equivalent relevant work experience)
5-10 years’ experience delivering mobile and web products in an agile/lean environment
Proven experience building and leading software development teams, as well as a record of solid technical achievements and experiences
Capable of moving from high-level vision to hands on coding (when needed)
Preferred Skills:
Android tablet experience
Experience working in a continuous deployment environment
Mobile Device Management experience
Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical folks
