SCOPE:
Analyzes acquisitions, joint ventures, alliances, divestitures, and other strategic opportunities for the Corporation and provides business planning and analysis support for senior management and the various operating divisions.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Identify, evaluate and prioritize selected acquisition, joint venture, and alliance candidates and make recommendations to senior management. Investigations and proposals include analyses of the historical and projected economic, marketing, operational, and financial characteristics of the companies and geographic areas being considered. Review and assess the strategic fit of the company/brand with Brown-Forman. Conduct a balanced assessment of the risks and rewards, organizational fit, and projected impact of implementation.
Work closely with operating group members to articulate business rational for interest, valuation, financial and strategic analysis of acquisition, joint venture and alliance opportunities.
Develop and present thoughtful and superbly written papers, presentations and recommendations to senior management.
Coach, develop, supervise and train Corporate Development Managers.
Provide senior management with economic, competitive, industry and financial evaluations as appropriate.
Assist in developing and communicating acquisition strategy.
Conduct due diligence activities.
Develop and maintain sensitivity to consumer trends and preferences, industry merger activities, and the financial objectives of the Company.
Develop excellent understanding of competitive environment and operational aspects of global beverage alcohol industry.
Maintain “state-of-the-art” technical skills in financial and acquisition analysis.
Interface with and direct activities of external advisors as appropriate (e.g., consultants, investment bankers, accounting firms, etc.).
MUST REQUIREMENTS:
MBA with a concentration in Finance OR demonstrated excellent financial, analytical, and communications skills.
Minimum 7-10 years relevant work experience.
Excellent project management skills.
Superior oral and written communications skills including ability to quickly lead senior management to fact-based conclusions.
Ability to work with minimum supervision under heavy workloads and with periodically intense time pressure.
Demonstrated ability to thrive in a rigorous, team-oriented environment and to develop, coach and help manage more junior Corporate Development analysts.
Excellent quantitative and modeling skills reflecting sound grasp of financial theory.
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
Previous experience with the merger/acquisitions, corporate finance, and/or strategic planning department of an Investment Bank or Fortune 500 Company. Exposure to beverage alcohol or consumer products companies a plus.
