Group Media Director - Maxus - Chicago


Job description
The Group Planning Director is the key liaison between the client and the media community providing leadership, strategic direction and input for media plans. The Group Planning Director effectively leverages experience, knowledge and skills to push innovative thinking and set challenging team goals and objectives balancing client, company and team needs.
Primary (day-to-day) Responsibilities:
Lead and manage all strategic channel planning activities associated with assigned account(s)
Lead development of planning objectives and strategies that align with the client’s marketing direction
Oversee optimization of media programs to continually meet client objectives
Establish and grow a strong relationship with the client through a demonstration of industry knowledge and of the client’s basic business issues
Steward relationship with outside agency partners (creative, PR, promotion, etc.)
Work with analytic partners to gauge media performance and KPI’s to determine the extent to which the original objectives and strategies were met
Ensure appropriate media tools are being used
Manage strategy team ensuring all team members are delegated work appropriate for their level and experience and that the team remains challenged and engaged
Actively incorporate Relationship Media into client planning process/Lead workshops in Facilitator role
Understand client compensation structure and implications of plan changes
Acts as a positive role model through example
Secondary Responsibilities:
Attend client specific and departmental meetings
Attend mandatory Agency Training
Facilitate and participate in creative brainstorm sessions
Participate in New Business
Proactively keep abreast of industry trends and share knowledge with team

Experience:
Minimum 7 years in media planning including 2 years at Associate Media Director level or higher.
Experience managing national TV campaigns including multiple upfronts
CPG experience preferred
Knowledge:
Deep understanding of media trends
Desirable:
Digitally Savvy: Personally uses digital media, demonstrates passion about emerging media, Google Analytics, Google Images, ability to search and research topics, etc
Thrives in team environment
