Director, Commercial Development Lantheus Medical Imaging - N. Billerica


Job Description

In this position the ideal candidate will lead the commercial planning, development and execution for a proprietary product and/or product market launch; Acts as a principal liaison with external partners and internal stakeholders relative to protocols, planning, decision making and communication of key decisions, progress updates and integration of effort;  Manages commercial planning on global basis.
Responsibilities include:
Facilitates a team of senior leaders to foster and expedite the advancement of the Company’s Phase II and/or Phase III clinical stage programs towards commercial product launch.  Builds and maintains the strategic and high level operational plans incorporating the inputs across all business functional areas.
Acts as a principal liaison with external partners relative to protocols and communication of key decisions, progress updates and integration of effort.  Works closely with Clinical, Legal, Finance and other functions on the details of terms and covenants relative to formal partnering agreements.
Directs market research efforts that are consistent with the strategic plan; incorporates findings into the brand marketing plan; Establishes product positioning and core messaging; Identifies the basis for market trends; performs complex analyses and creates financial justifications for projections; creates multifaceted budgets and forecasts.  Identifies potential opportunities to expand product plan and/or project beyond its original scope, increasing product earnings.
Understands functional dependencies and coordinates between and across functions to ensure optimized product launch plan
Ensures execution of launch plan, including product availability & supply, clinical data & publications delivery,  marketing strategy, speakers bureau, marketing collateral, sales force alignment, allocation and effectiveness, and performance reporting
Builds relationships and influence with corporate and industry thought leaders, drawing on their expertise and incorporating into action plans. Collaborates with Clinical and trial investigators to build advanced interest in the products (e.g., publications, association meetings).  Actively participates in clinical trial design and investor site selection to optimize product submission, and  promotion, and enhance business performance.
Guides and contributes to comprehensive pricing, healthcare economics, and outcomes research and analysis.  Develops a comprehensive health economics model for the product relative to competitive and alternative products and modalities.  Works closely with the Clinical team to identify downstream impact and financial outcomes that can be utilized in subsequent product marketing.   Works with government agencies, internal government liaisons and payors to best position product for reimbursement.  Recommends pricing plan to Executive Pricing Committee.
Collaborates with Pharmaceutical Development and Manufacturing & Operations and others to identify and fully assess and confirm the selection, contracting, tech transfer, regulatory requirements, supply chain issues etc, of the PET manufacturing sites (PMFs).
Provides senior leaders, team members and partners with formal periodic progress updates on aspects of the program incorporating clinical, operational, marketing and financial components.  Works closely with Finance and Strategic Planning to validate and coordinate modeling and forecasting.
Integrates planning activities with Sales and Marketing leaders in preparing product launch strategies, timelines, budgets, etc.  Directs the development and implementation of sales and marketing launch training to effectively communicate strategic and tactical plans across all functional groups. Provides leadership in identifying and establishing relationships with key opinion leaders to support new product launch.
Formulates working project teams and applies project management technology and processes.
Maintains current knowledge of and ensures all functional work activities are conducted in alignment with the full range of related internal and external systems, technology, regulatory and compliance requirements and related policies and procedures.
The incumbent will actively promote safety rules and awareness, will demonstrate good safety practices at all times, and take initiative to correct safety hazards. Additionally, the incumbent will actively demonstrate and promote the Lantheus values of accountability, communication, customer commitment, entrepreneurial spirit, integrity, safety and teamwork.
 
Desired Skills & Experience

Requirements include:
BA/BS degree and a minimum of 10 years pharmaceutical and/or medical imaging product management experience, or MS/MBA degree with 7 years experience, or equivalent.
Must have experience with leading product launch within the biotech/pharmaceutical industries
Must be familiar with medical imaging and/or PET diagnostics
Strong product brand management skills including the ability to initiate  and execute strategic commercialization plans with market research
Advanced forecasting and financial modeling skills
Excellent team facilitation, negotiation and overall leadership skills
Experienced in developing and maintaining relationship with key opinion leaders in the medical community
Ability to marshall a cross-functional team without positional authority
Demonstrated collaboration skills and experience working in a externally-partnered environment
Superior writing and presentation skills
Routine overnight travel based on business need.
