Some may call it magic; we call it our commitment to innovation, quality, style, and design.The Home Entertainment of America, Product Development Division located in San Diego currently has an opening for a Staff Mechanical Engineer focusing on Network connected consumer products.
The Staff Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for all phases of project development including analyzing project requirements, cosmetics design, Mechanical and packaging design, integration, testing, documentation, vendor selection, production, and market failure analysis. The Staff Mechanical Engineer will determine design approaches and test parameters, establish operating data, conduct experimental tests and evaluate the results. The candidate may investigate, troubleshoot and resolve problems of a complex nature. The Staff Mechanical Engineer will perform day-to-day tasks with minimal supervision and at their own discretion to determine new assignments which will meet organizational and corporate goals and objectives. The candidate will also build and maintain productive internal and external working relationships with technical organizations. The Staff Mechanical Engineer will network with key contacts outside own area of expertise and may have a high level of vendor contact.

* Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering
* 6-10years of relevant design experience (consumer electronics preferred).
* Must have 8+ years' experience in 2D/3D M-CAD systems, with product design experience in Pro/E
* 3+ years leading an experienced design team.
* Experience interfacing with product planning, electrical engineering, software engineering and hardware engineering for product development.
* Ability to create mechanical part cost analysis and estimates.
* Skilled in creating and managing multiple concurrent development schedules.
* Detailed knowledge of plastic and metal tooling.
* Experience in safety, compliance and reliability testing.
* Experience working with suppliers, engineers and manufacturing in Asia.
* Skilled in making and delivering presentations on design concepts and design status.
· Product development work with contract manufacturers
· Strong technical skills and familiarity with Engineering design principles and methodologies.
· Must have excellent communication skills
· Experience with Consumer Electronics a plus
· Must be able to work independently as well as in a team environment
· Must possess great interpersonal skills
· Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
· Must have strong presentation skills
· The flexibility to travel domestically or internationally is required
