Job Description
Working within the PayPal Security Engineering organization, this individual will be responsible for overseeing the design, development, implementation and maintenance of the Security Engineering function. The ideal candidate must be able to think independently; and analyze, troubleshoot and resolve complex business problems. The candidate will provide direct support to the Security Architecture, Architecture and Infrastructure leadership team on vision, strategy and direction for Security architecture and Engineering at PayPal.
Responsibilities include the following:
- Holds overall, senior-level technical responsibility for management, planning, design and implementation of the Security Architecture and Engineering domain to ensure alignment with Enterprise Architecture, with business strategy, Security Strategy – Security Architecture Patterns, Infrastructure, tools, guidelines, principles in accordance with Policies and Governance.
- Maintains accountability for implementing the Security Architecture vision and championing efforts to reach that vision.
- Continually reviews and suggests improvement to the Security Architecture and Engineering processes, policies, and vision and explores new and emerging technologies. Leads the investigation and adaptation of beneficial Security technologies and tools.
- Leads development and implementation of an Enterprise Security Architecture.
- Contributes in developing transparent and well-understood security architecture governance processes, rules and technologies to support them.
- Provides deep expertise in enterprise security management methods and standards.
- Displays demonstrated ability in communicating the overall security architecture to both technical and business constituencies.
- Ensures the development of guidelines and best practices to ensure security architecture standardization and consistency.
- Collaborate with geographically distributed teams and influence key decisions
Desired Skills & Experience
- Very strong leadership skills with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization.
- Ability to clearly articulate business and technical issues with senior management, peers, and outside parties (e.g. vendors, partners).
- Current knowledge and experience of industry trends and technology advancements in security.
- Solid understanding of security programs and processes like ISO 27K, ISO 177799.
- Familiarity with PCI standards and FIPS standards.
- Experience managing geographically distributed teams for large scale, highly available, fault tolerant data management systems in a dynamic environment.
- Ability to quickly learn and comprehend existing complex systems infrastructures.
- Familiarity with OpenSSL, SSL, Key Management, AAA, Identity and Access Management, etc.is desired.
- Knowledge and experience using eBay's websites strongly preferred.
- 12+ years of professional related experience.
