Director - Business Platform Marketing / Business Planning
Microsoft expects to enjoy continued strong growth in its application platform products including SQL Server and BizTalk Server. An important driver of this growth will be the pricing decisions and licensing policies that determine how well we monetize the software value customers receive from us.
Our group is looking for a leader who can inspire a group of talented individuals to drive important pricing and licensing decisions as our business and industry change. This is a team that will be responsible for conducting economic analysis, driving customer research, solving problems with internal licensing experts, and engaging with business leaders to:
- Recommend pricing and licensing model changes for upcoming major product release(s)
- Design new business models for cloud computing and appliances we sell with hardware partners
- Optimize our pricing model to drive profitable sales through ISVs, SIs, hosters, and OEMs
- Create new offer concepts/packages that make our products easier to sell/buy
- Evolve licensing policies in response to technology and industry trends (e.g., virtualization)
- Provide training and content to help our field explain our pricing and licensing to customers
The ideal candidate will have over 7 years of product management experience (including several years of experience leading a team) who has demonstrated an ability to: effectively manage a portfolio of projects and inspire individual contributors, make simple and actionable recommendations, collaborate with people in different functional areas, shape/drive executive decision making on issues with a high degree of financial impact/risk, and clearly communicate policies to broad and diverse audiences.
An MBA/MS in finance or economics is strongly desired. Experience with enterprise software pricing and licensing models is strongly desired.
