Technical Sales Director Bay Area at Force10 Networks


Job Description

Technical Sales Director Bay Area territory based in San Jose.

Reports directly to the Vice President of Systems Engineering and collaborates with the Regional VP of Sales to create and implement overall sales strategies designed to achieve Force10s overall global business objectives.

Is responsible for recruiting, hiring, training, developing, motivating and coaching the Systems Engineering team.

Develops and implements communication vehicles to ensure clear dissemination of strategies to all geographic locations.

Establishes and implements performance measurements designed to track and report progress against the global sales strategy.

Creates and drives programs that will help the SE team keep up-to-date on relevant competitive solutions, products and services.

Ensures that training programs support the ability of the SE organization to exceed the established goals and performance

Conducts periodic operation reviews to cascade the strategy and ensure compliance.

Provides guidance and feedback to Senior Management and product development on product and customer directions.

Travels as necessary to meet the goals and objectives of position.

Participates with other team members in creation of new products and services.

Participates in strategic marketing research and implementation for the corporation.

Assists in providing technical and sales support for accounts in assigned territory.

Performs technical presentations for customers, partners and prospects.

Actively participates as a specialist in the SE team for a technology/application area and provide consultative support to other Systems Engineers.

Strong problem solving skills: ability to assess a problem and determine an effective course of action.

Knowledge of baseline SE skills and deep knowledge in one area of specialization.

Knowledge and demonstrated operating experience in: IP routing, LAN switching, QoS, Ethernet, Campus/MAN, WAN, Transport systems.

Knowledge of relevant solutions sets, product line specifications, performance criteria, network design and applications.

Competitive knowledge including solution, technology and product offerings.

Understanding and conversant about company, solutions and product strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats.

Requirements:

5+ years experience as a successful SE
5+ years experience as a successful SE Manager or Director.

Pre-sales experience in service provider, Data Center and or Enterprise environment required.

Typically requires BS/BA (EE/CS).

Cisco/Juniper product experience or relevant experience in key competitor offerings required.

CCIE certification preferred.
