Job Summary:
We are currently seeking a Sr Medical Dir Medical Research Therapeutic Area Head - Oncology on our Medical Affairs team at our Parsippany, New Jersey location. This position sets the strategic direction and oversees the tactical implementation of the commercial Medical Research and Strategy team responsible for Phase IIIb studies (if appropriate) for products pending approval & Phase IV studies once a product is approved and MOA studies as appropriate for products in the areas of Oncology. The incumbent will be responsible for setting the medical strategic direction of assigned therapeutic areas in alignment with the brand and Development organizations and has ultimate leadership responsibility over a therapeutic team of Medical Affairs personnel.
Responsibilities:
In this role, you will oversee and assume responsibility for the strategic medical input to the Oncology, NPP, Development, Medical Affairs and Marketing team to ensure robust medical strategic plans for assigned products and appropriate LCM; and for the planning, timely implementation, completion and finalization of studies conducted by the Medical Affairs Oncology teams. Additionally, you will provide strategic input into studies conducted by the Clinical Development organization for assigned therapeutic areas; oversee the interpretation, publication/ public disclosure and interpretation of scientific data and development of scientific content for medical communication generated by studies conducted for products in the Oncology therapeutic areas.
Skills
Education/Experience:
Qualified candidates must have a MD; advanced training in internal medicine/oncology is highly desired. Minimum of 10 years experience in clinical, research or academic medicine; at least 7 years of pharmaceutical industry experience; and experience with medical strategies and clinical trial implementations is required in this role.
Excellent written and oral communication skills, particularly strong formal presentation skills; strong interpersonal skills commensurate with the need to work closely with outside physicians/scientists and numerous in-house support groups; and knowledge of scientific methods, research design and medical practices and procedures that would be acquired through clinical experience and clinical research studies are critical skills in this role. Basic knowledge and appropriate application of biostatistics and proficiency using standard software suites are also required. Must be willing to travel up to 40% of the time with up to 10% international travel.
