Senior Director, Quality and Process Innovation at NetApp


Job Description

Job Summary:
As Senior Director of Quality and Process Innovation, you will define the program for achieving process innovation excellence and lead the deployment of that strategy through a de-centralized deployment model. We are seeking a strong leader and an effective communicator who can facilitate and drive innovation in a fast-paced business environment, while adhering to the culture and values which define NetApp.
Your role will reside within the Quality and Customer Advocacy organization, which has developed very effective programs in recent years, resulting in NetApp being cited as the industry leader in product and services quality. Never-the-less, as new customers meet their data storage and management needs through a “shared storage infrastructure” they will bring ever increasing quality demands. Transformation of the NetApp Quality organization, program, and improvement model will be essential to maintain our Quality leadership advantage. The Director of Quality and Process Innovation will be expected to be a primary contributor to that transformation.
You will be very active in defining the Operating / Management system for process improvement and innovation projects, as well as defining the measures for project success. This is a position for a key change agent, adept at defining deployment strategy for a Process Development and Improvement Program within NetApp. We will require an experienced leader who has previously led the definition of a process innovation program for a company of at least the size and complexity of NetApp and who is experienced in “selling” a deployment model for the program to company executives.
You will engage with NetApp Executives to assess current processes to identify and prioritize improvement opportunities and will negotiate with NetApp Managers to deploy Process Improvement experts to have greatest impact. Additionally you will also provide a process for executive visibility into the progress of improvement projects. Keeping our executive sponsors apprised, engaged and supportive of our Process Excellence efforts is essential to our ongoing Improvement programs.
Lastly, you will use your deep experience of the science of quality to identify processes with very high impact both internally and on our customers, partners, and suppliers. As such, we require a leader who is very capable as a quality professional and a customer / partner / supplier relationship manager. With the input of the rest of the Quality and Customer Advocacy organization, you will define the tools and approaches to Process Improvement within NetApp and provide deployment training and mentoring of individuals throughout the company who are engaged in Process Improvement activities.
Skills

Requirements:
• Demonstrable, successful experience determining and implementing Process innovation in an enterprise, working through a decentralized model
• Extensive Quality Program Management and Quality Improvement expertise and leadership experience
• Ability to successfully communicate with Customers and Partners to articulate the NetApp Quality Program
• Successful experience as change agent who can contribute to the transformation of the NetApp Quality Improvement Strategy and Programs
• A leader with Process Innovation credentials and experience developing a Process Innovation/Excellence program, designed the deployment strategy, and demonstrated implementation success.
• A leader with a technical background that will enable both Customer and BU and Functional impact / communications
• Experience with customer / partner outreach program desirable.

Education & Experience:
• A consumate Quality professional who has led the Quality Program in a rapid-growth environment and who has developed and executed a quality improvement strategy recognized for success within its industry
• A leader with Process Innovation/Excellence credentials who has developed a Process Innovation/Excellence program, designed the deployment strategy, and demonstrated implementation success.
• A technical background derived from experience with a technology-driven industry and an undergraduate degree in engineering, sciences, or mathematics
• An MBA or other advanced degree, or equivalent experience.
