Job Description
The role of the Architect at NetApp is to architect technology solutions to meet our most strategic customers’ business requirements. Accelerate the fast track process for enterprise accounts into the TSP organization. Build relationships with IT executives, key decision makers, and senior technology influencers to proactively identify business opportunities. Determine strategic technology direction in critical accounts and communicate that information to our Technical Council, Lines of Business and competitive analysis teams to make sure NetApp is meeting our customers’ expectations for technology innovation and leadership. Focus on Solution Selling and not Product Selling to a higher level audience who are more concerned with business requirements and not as concerned with specific technology challenges. The Architect must possess a comprehensive understanding of IT architecture and infrastructure combined with the ability to create and develop executive-level relationships over the long-term.
Job Requirements From a technical perspective, developing solutions for Service Providers will provide significant opportunity to work with leading edge technologies. Solutions will likely range from Large Enterprise (such as complete IT in the cloud), Enterprise (such as Test/Dev in the cloud), SME (such as DR to the cloud), through to SOHO and consumer (such as laptop backup to the cloud). The role of process in the solution mix should not be underestimated. Many service offerings will need to conform to ISO 20,000 and/or COBIT and be designed to ITIL standards so an appreciation of how process integrates into a technology-based solution will be essential.
Key Technical Attributes:
Minimum of 8 years in a technical architect or solution development role
Minimum of 3 years designing solutions based around storage technology
Proven knowledge of scripting languages (PERL, Python, PHP etc) and API integration (practical experience preferred)
Proven expertise in technical areas which can impact storage effectiveness such as network performance & latency, data profiling, I/O management, capacity & multi-tenancy, security, caching (Flash technologies in particular) and virtualized host environments
Familiarity with popular technologies evident in cloud environments such as Hadoop, Ubuntu etc
Familiarity with popular cloud-based application technologies such as Asigra, Desktone etc
Proven expertise in generic IT management tools (Tivoli, OpenView, Symantec etc) as well as storage-specific management tools (Operations Manager, SANscreen etc)
Excellent numerical skills for complex calculations related scale and performance design implications
Excellent Visio and PowerPoint skills
Ability to produce testing scenarios for Proof-Of-Concepts
Education and Experience BS or equivalent
MBA an advantage
Industry technical certifications such as CCIE, MCSA, VCP, NCDA etc preferred
Process and standards certifications such as ITILv3, SNIA, COBIT etc preferred
