The Director will work closely with peers across HBO’s support functions, including business services, real estate and facilities, and Media Technology and Information Services to create actionable project plans and execute on a variety of strategic programs.The Director of Project Management is responsible for delivering strategic initiatives in support of infrastructure transformation for HBO. Initially, the focus of this position will be to design and deliver technology solutions in support of HBO’s pending move to 30 Hudson Yards.
Lead complex, cross departmental technology initiatives with 20+ working team members focusing on the technology plan for HBO’s presence at its new office in Hudson Yards.
Set project management standards and objectives and develop project management methods in order to achieve them.
Ensure project artifacts are created, maintained and shared across the project team (e.g. project plans, workflows, timelines, meeting agendas, summaries, etc.)
Work with technology and business stakeholders to prioritize the needs for the move and for other technology initiatives.
Partner with engineering teams to tease out delivery details, identify roadblocks before they occur and redefine strategy for successful, timely implementation.
Manage project risks through regular reporting and program scorecard management.
Serve as liaison between all stakeholders both within and outside the company (including EIS,
Time Warner Corporate and other TW Divisions) in order to drive and improve cross-technology processes and programs.
Interact with senior management to keep them informed of departmental initiatives.
REQUIREMENTS:
Experience in Program or Project Management including hands-on management of large cross-functional infrastructure and process transformation efforts.
Knowledge of critical infrastructure systems including, data center, network, storage, compute, telephony and collaboration systems (Polycom, Cisco Jabber, etc)
Ability to visualize, capture, and describe complex system design and workflows.
Understanding of the distributed, multi-tenant workin digital media landscapes (prior work experience in these fields is a plus).
Cultivate business relationships internally and externally and help maintain department as “go to” resource for information and expertise.
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, or other related technical discipline is
preferred.
Minimum 10 years of experience working as a project or program manager and/or managing a team of project or program managers.
Experience leading a team is a plus.
Ability to accomplish goals by managing individuals both through traditional reporting structure and through dotted line relationships across multiple departments to meet deadlines.
Very strong presentation, communication (oral and written), interpersonal, and organizational skills a must.
Excellent analytical and research skills.
Skilled in quickly connecting with and influencing people.
Adept in a fast-paced environment while prioritizing and managing several projects at once.
