Sr Finance Director FP&A Medtronic Northridge

The Diabetes Group is working with the global community to change the way people manage diabetes. Together, we will transform diabetes care by expanding access, integrating care, and improving outcomes so people with diabetes can enjoy greater freedom and better health.
Reporting directly to the Vice President of Diabetes Finance the Finance Senior Director will lead global Financial Planning, Forecasting, Reporting, and Analysis for the global Diabetes Group, and serve as Business Partner providing financial leadership and strategic insights and direction to the Diabetes Sr Leaders responsible for Enabling Functions - Clinical and Medical Affairs, Regulatory, Human Resources, Finance, Legal and Compliance and IT. The position also serves as main business partner to Diabetes President and CFO as well as Medtronic corporate finance and regional finance.
This role has global responsibilities and leads a team of analysts and directs all aspects of financial accounting and reporting to meet business objectives, including strategic and annual planning, forecasting, and analysis, identification of efficiency and process improvement initiatives.

Position Responsibilities:

Global Financial Planning, Forecasting, Reporting, and Analysis for the Diabetes Group
• Primary interface with Corporate Finance as it pertains to Annual Financial Planning, Strategic Planning, Forecasting, Reporting, and Analysis.
• Lead the Group’s Annual Operating Plan process and financial forecast for the Strategic Plan.
• Direct planning and forecast activities and provide executive management with reports and analysis.
• Lead Finance responsibility for Group’s Portfolio Management
• Lead the Group’s financial metrics including Cash Flow and Return on Invested Capital

Business Partnering for VPs Enabling Functions
• Takes the initiative to identify a broad range of business issues which includes everything from internal controls to providing leadership in the decision-making process.
• Integrates the Finance function with business activities and actively participates in managing the business and in establishing its strategic direction.
• Direct the financial reporting and control functions in the Diabetes Group.
• Develop and implementing processes throughout the Diabetes organization to ensure integrity of our financial statements.
• Provide appropriate interpretations and analysis of actual financial performance versus plan or forecast. Coordinate the development of and assist in the implementation of contingency plans.
• Analyze financial statements (P&L/Balance Sheet) and reconcile accounts for accuracy and adherence to generally accepted accounting principles.
• Develop and implement performance measures that focus on key business drivers (financial and non-financial) to support long term performance and strategic objectives.
• Manage, coordinate, consolidate and analyze strategic and annual operating financial plans and forecasts.
• Set targets, analyze and make appropriate recommendations to management.

Special Projects and Strategic Initiatives
• Prepare financial analyses on special projects and strategic initiatives as directed by the President and VP Finance.
• Ensure business partnering through participation in cross-functional teams internally and with international, corporate and others within Medtronic.
• Contribute financial analysis expertise to senior management, staff and cross-functional teams and committees.
• Assist in the development and implementation of financial and operational systems, processes, and procedures affecting the Diabetes Group.
• Implement and monitor financial policies and procedures to ensure compliance with GAAP, Corporate and Diabetes policies and procedures.
• Educate employees on the use of financial tools that will enhance productivity.

Team Leadership
• Lead direct staff and extended staff
• Provide direction and guidance to ensure efficient completion of organization goals and objectives (G&Os)
• Manage the MDT performance management cycle for employees including:
• Establish and cascade Goals and Objectives.
• Provide ongoing direction and guide to ensure efficient completion of G&Os
• Conduct Mid-year & Year-end performance evaluations reviews
• Enable employee learning & development opportunities and ensure all employees are having annual career development conversation
• Drive employee engagement, inclusion and innovation; maintain positive motivation and recognition of staff


Basic Qualifications:

IN ORDER TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POSITION, THE FOLLOWING BASIC QUALIFICATIONS MUST BE EVIDENT ON YOUR RESUME
•10+ years of accounting/financial analysis experience; including a large multi-national corporation (i.e. minimum $1 Billion in revenue) with a bachelor’s degree
or
•8+ years of accounting/financial analysis experience; including a large multi-national corporation (i.e. minimum $1 Billion in revenue) with a Master’s degree

Specialized Knowledge or Skills Required
• 7+ years leadership/managerial experience (Functional, Project, team)
• Exposure to and working knowledge of financial systems
• Experience in presenting complex ideas and messaging to senior executives on a regular cadence
• Experience supporting team growth and development

Desired/Preferred Qualifications:
• Degree in Accounting/Finance
• CPA, CMA, and/or MBA
• Experience creating strategies, defining and articulating clear role expectations and direction
• Experience attracting, developing, and retaining diverse talent
• Proven experience in achieving results through influence management and motivating teams
• Experience to build and inspire people, establish trust and lead high performing teams
• Experience in new business development, portfolio management, Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A), post-acquisition integration
• Experience in ERP systems such as SAP and Hyperion
• Experience in healthcare, medical device, biotech, or pharma industry
• Global mindset – able to work across regions and cultures to deliver business results internationally
• Applies creativity and ingenuity to find unique solutions to complex problems
