Facebook is seeking to fill the position of Director, Content Accounting. The successful candidate will have a proven record of building and leading a finance team supporting a content business. In this newly created role, the Director will build a team to support Facebook’s investment in content acquisition, help develop accounting policies based on industry experience and manage process and system implementation in this exciting new area. Success in this role involves an ability to think critically, plan and execute effectively while collaborating across multiple teams and office locations. The successful candidate will have had experience driving high exposure projects, be energetic, highly driven and solution focused. They need to be hands-on as well as strategic, able to manage the day-to-day operations with an eye towards building the content accounting team. This full-time position is located in Los Angeles, CA and will require regular travel to both our Menlo Park headquarters as well as other offices. The role will report to the Facebook Controller.
Develop initiatives which will automate content accounting processes across the company, and which foster trust and accountability in all our financial reporting and compliance with legal, tax, audit, regulatory, Sarbanes-Oxley and jurisdictional requirements
Build and manage a team of accountants, supporting the business as content acquisition expands within the company
Assist in development of accounting policies and operations for owned and licensed content and related royalties
Prepare and create models to support amortization policy for owned and licensed content
Interpret contractual language and identify proper application of accounting policies
Assist with the preparation of quarterly reporting packages to management
Develop metrics and analysis in support of the content accounting team
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline
12+ years of experience with accounting for owned or licensed content within a media, studio, network, production company, or similar
Preferred Qualifications
Highly collaborative temperament, excellent communication skills and demonstrated ability to work in a cross-functional, global, fast-paced environment
Self-starter with superb attention to detail yet possesses an understanding of the "big picture”
Able to operate with a high degree of autonomy
Experience implementing and improving business process and systems
