Inorganics is part of McKinsey New Ventures (NV). McKinsey NV was set up as an incubator, accelerator and home of innovation in the Firm. Inorganics is one of the pillars of NV tasked with establishing and growing partnerships, alliances and acquisitions to enhance our client service capabilities. The team is at the forefront of innovation in the Firm and through M&A has added new services such as VisualDoD (data visualization), Lunar (design agency), 4Tree (pricing analytics), Quantum Black (analytics engine), among others. The Inorganics team is also building and launching a formal alliances program. The current Inorganic portfolio spans more than 150 alliances ranging from innovative startups to large established software and technology delivery providers.
The Inorganic Group has three core teams: Growth & Strategy, Acquisitions and Alliances.



(1) The Growth & Strategy team supports practices in developing and implementing their Inorganic growth strategies providing support to both acquisitions & alliances.

(2) The Acquisitions team works closely with Growth & Strategy, Sponsors and Firm functions to source, execute and integrate attractive deals.

(3) The Alliances group supports collaborative framework definition, negotiations, formation, activation and management of ongoing external relationships.

The Inorganic team is distributed across the Americas, Europe and Asia.

As the Inorganics leader in EMEA you will work closely with the global M&A (Finance) team, as well as the Director, Inorganics APAC.

The Director of Inorganics EMEA will have reporting requirement to both the Global Director of Alliances & Acquisitions and regional leader/ Senior Partner in EMEA.



What you’ll do:

The Director of Inorganics (EMEA) is a new role at McKinsey. This individual will be expected to play a key part in shaping and executing on McKinsey’s inorganic growth strategies in the EMEA region. The role encompasses a number of responsibilities across all areas of the inorganic practice as described above, including but not limited to:

Leading the financial modeling of M&A targets and structuring potential transactionsAnalyzing acquisitions, equity investments, divestments and joint ventures to recognize growth and profit goalsWorking with CSTs as a functional expert in leading market scans and evaluating the financial implications of key business drivers and assumptionsVetting potential transactions with the Firm’s CFO, M&A Director and M&A committeeLeading the decision making process with sponsors and senior Firm leaders on whether to pursue investment opportunitiesBeing a thought partner for senior industry and practice leaders in the EMEA regionTracking and reporting on the performance of M&A transactions in the EMEA regionDeveloping best practices and lessons learned to further process improvementsPlanning and executing the acquisition and integration processesLeading due diligence efforts across all functional areas (e.g., accounting, tax, legal, HR, IT)Leading other key Inorganic initiatives and ad-hoc requests


What you’ll need:

Exceptional drive, energy and confidenceStrong financial and analytical skillsExpertise in structuring and negotiating mergers and acquisitions, including business case financial modelling and due diligence across all relevant disciplines (e.g., financial, HR, legal, tax, operations, etc.)Experience in developing, advising, or operating large scale investments -- global in nature, and large in scopeAbility to bridge business considerations and their financial implicationsStrong interpersonal skills including the ability to lead cross-functional teams, work with and from time-to-time advise senior Firm leaders, and help build consensus.Deal closure and integration experienceExcellent project management and problem solving skillsHighly effective verbal and written communications skills, familiarity with legal documentation, and the organizational ability to “get it done.”Strong sense of entrepreneurship and ownership mindset, with a client service orientationExemplary judgment and professionalism


Qualifications:

A minimum of 10+ years recent experience in private equity, venture capital, corporate development or in buyside Mergers & Acquisitions at an investment bank, private equity/VC or consulting firm;AP equivalent experienceMBA or other advanced degree strongly preferred
