Leading a team of 10+ and based at the Hertz European Service Centre in Dublin the Northern European Accounting Director has full accounting ownership for UK, Germany, Netherlands and Benelux accounting, The Northern European Accounting Director is responsible for aligning the financial accounting activity in their region with Hertz Mission, Vision and Values to deliver their key responsibilities in a quality and least cost way.

Accurately and timely report their regions results under US GAAP on a monthly, quarterly and annual cadence
Ensure that annual financial statements are accurately prepared, reported timely and consistent with Hertz policies & procedures under local GAAP or IFRS ( where applicable )
Overall responsibility for the implementation & management of Internal controls for the key “Account to Report” processes for their region. In particular to ensure all balance sheet reconciliations are completed and reviewed on time.
Partner with key stakeholders to provide accounting expertise and to deliver financial information and analysis to support operational decision making as required
Essential Requirements:
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Manage the relationships between Dublin and the Northern European Region
Lead the delivery of US financial reporting requirements for their region by planning, scheduling, and overseeing monthly, quarterly, and year end close activities to meet the European and US close timetable
Ensure country group reporting accuracy and compliance with US GAAP and local GAAP
Ensure that annual financial statements are accurately prepared, reported timely and consistent with Hertz policies & procedures under local GAAP or IFRS ( where applicable )
In conjunction with the other Accounting leadership drive consistency, standardization and best practice improvement across all processes
Ensure accounting related balance sheet reconciliations and reviews are completed in accordance with Hertz procedural standards and physical inventories are conducted on an annual basis.
Work closely will field operations and facilities management to ensure the accurate and timely in servicing of assets related to various approved projects
Review Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) documentation to ensure that all aspects are current and accurate and monitors results of SOX self-testing process to remediate any gaps prior to testing by Hertz internal Control and/or External Audit Partners
Provides technical guidance to key stakeholders on group accounting policies and procedures and educates financial and non-financial management in financial matters
Provide timely and accurate flux analysis data for review and analysis by Finance Business Partners
Support Tax team as required
Preferred Requirements :
What do we need from you?
Bachelor’s in Accounting required
Masters degree preferred
CPA Certification or equivalent ( ACA FCA)
Advanced knowledge US GAAP accounting
Strong accounting experience (10+ years)
Proven track record in supervising large groups of employees.
Multinational experience
3-5 years public accounting experience preferred
Knowledge:
Ability to lead a large organization
Knowledge of both GAAP & IFRS Accounting practices & standards
Knowledge of Finance ERP systems, preferably Oracle EBS ( R12)
Languages:
Knowledge of German or Dutch an advantage
