Director Product Management Mobile E-Commerce Samsung Mountain View

As a Director of Product Management, Mobile e-Commerce at Samsung you will be the owner of delivering Samsung’s mobile retail experiences. In this role, you will lead a team and execute on building retail commerce products from ideation to shipping working across teams. This includes working with Product Marketing, UX, Development, QA, and most importantly our customers. You will be empowered to plan and deliver the retail product roadmap for our native apps.
Successful candidate will have experience building consumer and/or enterprise products before; takes initiative and is a self-starter, works collaboratively, learns quickly, and thrives in a result-oriented fast-paced environment. You need to be strategic and process driven, with experience shipping products and working collaboratively with strong engineering and data science teams.

Ideal candidate will be at the intersection between business, technology, data and user experience. A great product person will help be the “glue” for the company, in the process figuring out how to creatively bring out the best of this intersection.

Necessary Skills / Attributes
• Responsible for the management and strategy of the product planning life cycle.
• This role will lead and mobilize the execution of the development, life cycle and validation management of the product planning cycle.
• This role will lead new product technology developments, product introductions, and model launches in support of product sales teams
• Product: Lead market research, product specification, and competitive analysis for mobile products.
• Business: Obsessed with optimizing a product to achieve the business goals while maximizing return on investment.
• Leadership: Drive product strategy and roadmap for our retail mobile apps working with the internal stakeholders, engineering, product marketing, and customer teams.
• Prioritization: Lots of good opportunities. Size them up. Make tough choices. Drive the roadmap.
• Customer insight: Critical to understand customer needs (present and future). Ask the right questions and conduct analysis to gain current and future customer needs.
• Documentation: Create concise yet detailed functional specification documentation.
• Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with all assigned levels within and outside the company.
• The ability to convince others, in a potentially adversarial and highly technical environment, including customer leadership, VPs, directors & managers, staff, and vendors with opposing views to accept/approve plans, technical, and project recommendations. Plan, organize, and prioritize multiple complex assignments and projects.
• Read and interpret detailed and complex engineering product development and marketing documents, media materials, and contracts (or related documents) based on corporate legal and marketing standards and philosophy.

Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in engineering (Masters preferred)
• Minimum of 12-15 years of Product Management experience with a portion focused on mobile applications UX.
• Passion and successful track record in championing native “better on mobile” experiences, with attention to detail and craftsmanship.
• Ability to effectively lead while also creating product specs, working through operations issues, and helping UX and development solve user problems.
• Passion for getting data and increasing usage in the product because people love using it.
• Ability to deliver. You advocate for getting a great product out the door.
• Champion of a strategy that not only makes sense but resonates with customers before it’s shipped. You relish customer excitement for new features.
