Warner Bros. Distributing Inc. seeks a Director, Marketing-China for the International Marketing department. Serves as liaison between the Burbank International marketing team and the local China marketing team. Supports the China marketing team in the creation of plans, strategies and activations for upcoming films by working as their Burbank-based representative.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
This role provides for a Burbank-based staff member to work with the local Chinese marketing team, who are based in Beijing, as their liaison with the Burbank Home Office team. This person would help to provide support in all areas: creative, research, media, digital, etc.
Through these connections, position supports the Beijing-based head of marketing for China and the rest of the Beijing-based China marketing team in the creation of plans, strategies and activations for upcoming films.
Consults with the China marketing team in the research, analysis and information gathering necessary to develop marketing plans.
Supports the ongoing and rapidly growing demands for LA-based marketing needs, including the development and delivery of presentations, attending meetings, participating in events, etc.
Serves as the focal point of contact with LA-based Chinese marketing partners/entities, such as ticketing companies, exhibitors, digital/online entities to execute the partnership strategies in collaboration with the local China team.
Collaborates with third-party partners (The Blair Partnership, LEGO, etc.) to ensure planning and communication with all parties is strong, clear and effective.
Partners with the Franchise teams (HPFG, DC, etc.) to support cross-divisional communications, planning and execution for China at an international level.
Works with the local China marketing team to monitor, analyze and understand competitive marketing activities and industry trends.
Serves as an additional resource in China to support tours, events, meetings, etc.
Performs other special projects as required.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
BA/BS degree required. Emphasis in Business/Marketing is strongly preferred.
Minimum 5-7 years marketing experience required; marketing experience within a media environment preferred.
Previous experience with developing and executing marketing plans required.
Previous experience dealing with multiple offices, both domestic and internationally, preferred.
Must speak, read and write fluent English and Mandarin.
Must have a perspective of Chinese culture based on prior experience living, studying and/or working in China or with a Chinese company/entity. Understanding of Chinese entertainment / media market would be preferred.
Must be able to adjust work hours to accommodate the time difference with China (i.e. work day to start and end day later, such as 11am-8pm).
Must have exceptional organizational skills in order to manage continuing flow of information and projects effectively.
Must have excellent computer skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and experience with PowerPoint and other design software (Adobe Photoshop, Acrobat, etc.) is required.
Must be knowledgeable about film marketing and have had experience dealing with the international marketplace.
Strong interpersonal skills. Must have the ability to communicate effectively and tactfully with filmmakers, senior executives, colleagues, vendors, clients, talent and other levels of personnel, both oral and written.
Must have a strong professional presence.
Strategic and/or creative instincts preferred.
A/V and presentation skills preferred.
