As a Strategic Customer Engineer, you are responsible for customers success on Google Cloud Platform and managing trusted technical advisory relationships with our strategic customers who have chosen Google Cloud Platform. You will be responsible for overseeing the technical integration, platform adoption, cost/performance optimizations, and taking the lead on critical customer projects from start to finish. You will work closely with a cross-functional team to ensure rapid and accurate resolution of technical challenges. From monitoring product performance to debugging and troubleshooting product code, you are the resident expert that addresses customer needs and advocates for it internally. You are passionate about Cloud Computing and the Google Cloud Platform, including Google App Engine, Google Compute Engine, BigQuery, Google Cloud Storage, and more.

Responsibilities
Manage and grow a high performing team of Google Cloud Platform Strategic Customer Engineers focused on maximizing success for the team and the customers under care. Support team members providing coaching and mentorship to make them successful engaging with customers in complex technical situations with challenging requirements.
Develop cross-functional relationships with other internal teams to increase team impact in supporting customers. Work with sales, product management, and engineering to express customer needs and understand direction of Google Cloud Platform.
Demonstrate thought leadership in cloud architecture across multiple channels and become a trusted advisor to decision makers. Provide customer feedback to the product and engineering teams, and influence product direction.
Recommend cloud solutions by using your technical breadth across multiple areas, and manage strategic alliances among Google and partners/customers to promote adoption and interoperability of their existing applications and infrastructure solutions to Google Cloud Platform.
Identify new product features and feature gaps, provide guidance on existing product issues, and collaborate with Solutions Architects and Engineers to influence the growth of Google Cloud Platform.
Qualifications
Minimum qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field or equivalent practical experience.
7 years of experience in leading or working on technical projects.
2 years of experience managing a technical team.
Experience with any of the following: Linux, DNS, TCP, Firewalls, Proxy Servers, DMZ, Load Balancing, VPN, VPC, database systems, distributed compute environments, application development, mobile development, big data analytics, fundamentals of cloud computing including virtualization, hosted services, multi tenant cloud infrastructures, storage systems and content delivery networks.
Preferred qualifications:
MS/PhD degree in Computer Science, Math or a technically-oriented MBA; or 10 years relevant experience in software development, professional services, solution engineering, technical consulting; with expertise in architecting and rolling out new technology and solution initiatives.
Hands on experience with compute technologies (such as Docker, Mesos, OpenStack, Kubernetes), data processing software (such as Hadoop, Spark, Pig, Hive) or open source software (such as Cassandra, MongoDB, RabbitMQ).
Current hands-on experiences in building multi-tier high availability applications with modern web technologies.
Proven track record of customer successes. Demonstrated ability to work under tight deadlines and prioritize several complex projects simultaneously.
Strong customer-facing communication skills. Proven success in and genuine enthusiasm for working directly with customer.
Willing to travel 25% (domestic and international).
