The role is to build and shape this team such that it provides significant leverage across the dimensions described in the team overview.

The ideal candidate will be a hands on technical expert and practitioner who truly understands what works in the real world and how to intersect that perspective with pragmatic technology choices and design patterns. More passionate about the engineering, scalability and generic applicability that any specific use-case and/or functional application.
Key responsibilities include:
Provide architectural and infrastructural thought leadership together with engineering excellence to this team and the Investment Systems group.
Partner with the functional leads across IS to design, develop and implement common services that represent the highest value to the group, reduce duplication and promote best practice.
Build highly scalable services and components that directly benefit the functional teams and leads. Although spanning all teams in the group, the emphaisis initially will be on providing greater leverage to the active investment facing teams bu further opening Aladdin, API’s, and capabilities that enhance the Alpha-Gen and Portfolio Management processes.
Partner with the key technical stakeholders (specifically CSI and Core Data) to provide an IS influence on design decisions and ensure that the broader IS group is fully utilizing the services available.

Qualifications:
15+ years of experience in financial services (we want you to have scars associated with poor design choices)
Expert level technical proficiency and not married to any one approach and/or technology (language and/or technology choice is an implementation detail to you)
Comfortable bridging between both legacy and bleeding edge
Extremely hands-on and leads by example (contributes as much functioning code and solutions as anyone in the team)
