The Sr. Director, Systems Engineering, Enterprise, will manage, develop, and lead a team of high performing Pre-Sales Engineers to ensure the sales and effective delivery of the technical and business value of VMware’s solutions and services. This role is expected to grow the region through the development of internal business partnerships with the Field Sales, Alliances, Partner, and Professional Services Organizations.
Externally, this person is responsible for directing the team in consultative, advisory solution and services sales through partnership with VMware’s Sales organization.
The Sr. Director, Systems Engineering, Enterprise is also expected to manage their business—grow and mentor their team, maintain financial controls including travel and expenses, headcount and regularly pursue strategic business development opportunities.

Overview:
Our ideal candidate will have minimum 10 years of professional pre-sales and consulting services experience in the technology domain.
This candidate will have a successful track record of managing high-performance teams and who has experience partnering with sales in order to grow product and services revenue.
The individual filling this position will have been a leader of an organization whose members routinely exerted significant influence on the solution development and sale of business-driven technology solutions to client companies.
In addition, this individual will have excellent strategic planning and strategy deployment skills and must possess both a broad level of technology understanding and substantial operation and financial acumen.

The individual filling this position has most likely spent most of his/her career in technology consulting services or pre-sales with progression into consulting services and or pre-sales management. The individual has demonstrated the ability to manage team execution during solution sales activities, and the ability to personally influence the sale of complex, large-scale business driven technology solutions to senior client executives.

Background and Experience we are looking for:
• 8+ years of experience managing or leading a successful presales and services organization preferably in the Enterprise Software space.
• 10+ years of relevant IT or industry experience in customer-facing positions preferably within the Enterprise Software space or technology sector
• Strong organizational and project management skills with an ability to manage competing client demands and multiple engagements
• Experience with financial modeling and benchmarking principles
• Experience building and managing teams in a fast-paced, startup (or startup-like) environment a big plus
• Proven ability to communicate professionally with executives, teams, customers and partners, including CxO-level leaders
• Proven ability to align stakeholder interests and navigates customer organizations to ensure successful project delivery and acceptance
• Solid understanding of cloud computing principles, features, and business & IT value propositions for Service Providers, Enterprise, State & Local, and Education customers.
• Excellent communications, interpersonal, and motivational skills
• Ability to travel up to 50% of time

Education:
• B.S./B.A. Required (M.S./MBA preferred)
