Reporting to the Chief Commercial Officer (CCO), this role will serve as the “Chief of Staff” for the CCO and will support:
• Driving operational excellence.
• Maintaining alignment within Commercial and across Sunovion.
• Increasing employee enablement and empowerment across the commercial organization.
• Maintaining focus on longer-term strategy and planning.

This individual will collaborate with the Commercial Executive Team (CET) and key stakeholders across the organization to ensure cohesion, priority alignment and the optimization of organizational resources and communication.
This individual will engage, enact and lead without authority, to effectively drive and communicate commercial initiatives, across the organization, in a highly collaborative manner.
Essential Functions
Support the office of the CCO.
• Employ strong business and operational acumen to manage complex and multiple responsibilities; eliminate surprises, mitigate risk and escalate only essential issues.
• Provide project leadership and analytical support on high priority initiatives, as directed.
• Ensure discipline around CCO Time Management: proper delegation of tasks; ensure meetings are focused and productive; and, ensure time investment is prioritized against business priorities.
• Assist the CCO to foster commercial operating principles and build upon the high performing culture.
• Integrates multiple perspectives to ensure balanced and comprehensive approach.
• Prepare reports for routine and non-routine meetings and business updates under the direction of the CCO.
• Partner closely with functional leaders to prepare Sunovion and/or DSPJ executive presentations including, but not limited to, Board of Director presentations, Executive Committee Meetings, Monthly Business Updates, operational review highlights, and key initiatives reports.
• Drive efficient decision making including; acting as sounding board for CCO, preparing and communicating recommendations and/or when appropriate, make decisions on behalf of CCO.
Engage across organization and lead without authority (representing the CCO and commercial interests) to effectively drive and communicate CCO initiatives in a highly collaborative manner.
• Operate on behalf of the CCO to drive successful completion of enterprise wide efforts.
• Serve as a member of various steering committees, advisory councils and project teams, as directed by the CCO.
• Partner with Communications to execute Commercial forums, off-site meetings, and other presentations.
• Amplify CCO messaging and priorities through multi-faceted communication plan including: presentations, internal and external forums and ongoing communication to key stakeholders; and, identifies and develops, in partnership with Corporate Communications, communications needs to ensure that communications pertaining to Commercial are well coordinated, timely and consistent.
Facilitate efficient and effective business processes and strategic planning, under the direction of the CCO and in conjunction with key stakeholders (CET, CLF, Finance, HR, Medical Affairs, etc).
• In strong collaboration Financial Planning & Analysis, US and global Financial planning processes.
• Establish meeting agenda, meeting management, and assignment of follow-up items to ensure appropriate focus on priorities and alignment of interests (CET & CLF staff meetings, Quarterly Business Reviews, Business Planning Process and other business events) as required by the CCO.
• Leverage experience and network to influence Commercial and cross-functional partners (i.e. Finance, Human Resources, R&D, Communications, Legal etc.) to meet business objectives.
• Lead key-stakeholder alignment and cross-functional collaboration.
Partner closely with the Corporate Strategy team to complete assessments of strategic alignment and commercial value for development, licensing and acquisition opportunities.
Provide direction, coaching and development for one direct report.
Performs other duties as directed.

Bachelor’s degree required. MBA, PhD or other advanced degree preferred.
Experience required:
Previous pharmaceutical industry experience should include 10+ years progressive track record in one or more of the following functional areas; sales, marketing, operations, corporate strategy & planning or related fields.

• Technologically savvy with advanced skills in Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Microsoft Project.
• Contemporary knowledge of biotechnology / pharmaceuticals and scientific / medical trends in areas of interest to Sunovion.
The ideal candidate will have the ability to maneuver in a complex business environment, acumen to manage complex business situations, and the ability to juggle multiple priorities simultaneously, including balancing progress on long-term projects with the urgency of immediate operational demands.
The incumbent must possess the skills to influence and collaborate with a diverse domestic and global stakeholder community to achieve actionable results, and build strong and sustainable relationships.
