The Vice President, Research Director (VP, RD) will help lead a team of analysts in our application development & delivery and eBusiness & channel strategy practices. This practice serves clients who are responsible for customer relationship management , customer service, contact centers, and sales force automation technology. This research director position leads a team that specifically helps our clients in retail and business-to-business (B2B) industries with their digital strategies and technology decisions.

The VP, RD will be responsible for defining a research agenda that addresses the needs of our target clients. This research agenda must provide a holistic set of answers to the questions that are most important to clients. This person will also be responsible for ensuring the quality of the research documents produced and developing forward-looking research plans with team members.

The VP, RD will have experience managing research analyst teams. He or she will lead a research team of five or more people and must be able to partner effectively with other research directors and new analysts. He or she must be passionate about helping individuals achieve their full potential as strategic thinkers and writers.

Finally, this person is responsible for acting as an advocate and champion both within Forrester and with our clients. This entails partnering closely with our global sales and consulting organizations during the pursuit of new business opportunities as well as the enrichment of existing client relationships.

Responsibilities

Demonstrate thought leadership with the analyst team to refine and expand the existing research agenda.
Edit syndicated research reports and ensure the quality of Forrester’s intellectual property.
Mentor and coach members of the research team in support of their professional development goals.
Partner with account teams to identify and pursue business opportunities.
Ensure the achievement of team performance goals such as research production and events.
Participate in Forrester-sponsored and other events to drive awareness of the eBusiness & channel strategy practice.
Contribute to the growth of Forrester’s eBusiness & Channel Strategy and Application Development & Delivery Councils by partnering with Forrester’s advisors in that group and ensuring that quality deliverables are provided to council members by the research team.

Qualifications

Solid experience as a research analyst, industry practitioner, or consultant in the marketing and strategy arena.
Demonstrated marketing and business strategy consulting leadership with senior management and C-level clients.
Experience managing high-performing research analyst teams.
Knowledge of eBusiness & channel strategy issues and challenges, especially in business-to-consumer (B2C) commerce.
A strong record of academic achievement.
Superior analytical, writing, and presentation skills.
The ability to travel 25% of the time or more.
